I'm a great fan of DVR/VRT and just love the M7 and VRT! Royce and I have talked many times about using DVR/VRT for Chest Expander's aka Strand Pulling and it works as well with DVR/VRT as it does with the springs! I am also a fan of my total gym, after I broke my leg and ankle a few years I used it at home to rehab and my physical therapist assigned me exercises for home, it speeded up my recovery.
The throught struck me, mix a total gym at a slight incline (for light resistance) and DVR/VRT and that light resistance can be amplified with muscle tension! Yet another way to harness DVR/VRT, this truly is the way of the future.

Sorry if I misunderstood your post, but are you saying that it is possible to do DVR/VRT with the chest expander?

Your do not need the chest expander, you can use just the handles or just pretend your using one. It is just as good using DVR/VRT and tensing your muscles using dynamic tension as using the chest expander. Just preform the same exercises, same set and reps and you'll get the same results using DVR/VRT.

Hi Mike
I use my TotalGym all the time in this fashon. It's an excellent piece of equipment. I know we don't need equipment with our way of training, but if you do have access to a TotalGym it's a great way to combine the two.
I originally got my totalgym for my wife. I now use it 3 days a week and love it. It's great for doing the exercises with added muscular tension too. As well as powerflexes at various points.
It's also great if you can't do many pullups/chins. I've built up my pullups and chins on the TotalGym now to the point of actully being able to do actual pullups & chins.

Kenpopaul your so right! My total gym is an older Total Trainer with the bar at the top of the unit, to do inverted crunches and perfect for pullups and chinups, I use it that way too, plus Isometric Powerflexs work great.
I was glad to have it when I was injured and needed it for rehab. At physical therapy they had an industrial strength Total Gym I used there as part of therapy. But I needed mine at home for my home exercises, having the base foot board is invaluable for leg and ankle exercises.

I've got a friend who uses the TotalGym, and is starting to outgrow the resistance built into device on some exercises. I've passed on some advice re. DVRs to him, and he's doing well.

Rope/webbing can be used to make a "total gym"; grab your gizmo with your hands &/or feet and use your own body as resistance

gruntbrain you can make your own Bowflex, just buy one of the Body Bows off Amazon or any of the online stores for $25 plus shipping. Buy some nylon rope, two pieces of hose, slip the rope through the hose making a rope with a handle. Tie the rope off and add rings or carbiner rings. Your body become the Bowflex machine. You can even slip one rope over a hook or under a heavey piece of furniture and now you can do all the bowflex exercises for less. Plus you can use DVR/VRT resistance and never outgrow your Poor Man's Bowflex'er.
