I emailed Digger (Grant Douglass) the good news that I was enjoying a "heatwave"of 36 degrees Fahrenheit After months of below zero weather I was thrilled to "warm up". Little did I know that Australia has had a dangerous heatwave this weekend of 40 degrees Celsius. Tonight I saw the news footage of horrible bush fires raging through Melbourne, Victoria Australia. I pray our Australian friends and their loved ones are safe
After a 12 year drought this is a very serious situation. There are many people working hard in very hot conditions trying to put out those bush fires.
Take care" Digger" from Sidney , Australia
and take care "gtlaau" from Newcastle , Australia
My prayers are with you and your country!!!

g'day evryone sorry i haven;t been about to much latley.
Yep those fires in melourne are real bad news. my misses has got cousins in one of the areas currently under siege.
Her uncle who sold his vineyard a few years back & later died. from old age. Well the vineyard he sold went up in flames.
She's got family & friends down there i hope they make it out as quick as possible & don't try to stay & protect thier property.
DEATH toll has hit 181, some people have been found dead in their niehbours homes as they've gone to help their friends fight the fire off. Then they all died together all 9 of them. ;(
They where doing what Australian's are well known for doing , jumping in & helping a mate./ cobba.
One father stayed to protect the home & fight the fire , he sent his wife & little girl off in the car to escape, they burned to deah in the car & he & the house survived how must this father feel now.
Last night I watched the news with my misses/wife& my 2 little boys, Az my 6 year old, asked me what could he do to help.
II said don't worry mate everyones doing all they can , later as he was getting out of the bath & i dried him off. he looked at me & said " daddy I WANT TO HELP! what can i do?"
I knelt down & looked into his sparkling little blue eyes & said. " Az do you now how to say a little prayer?"
He smiled back & said ' Daddy i know to ways to hold my hands ,it's like this or this."
"Az mate when you go to bed tonight talk to god & say your little prayer" I said.
Tonight
i was sitting next ot him at the dinner table, his grandparents were their & it was all happening.
Amoungst all the noise I looked at him & asked.
" Az didyou get to say that prayer mate?'
He looked back up at me & gave me the most magiclal smile & a special little wink.
his blue eyes came alive as a smile raced across his face. " SURE DID DAD"
Thank you everyone for sending prayers , whilst your talking to god put in big order for rain. The last week at home here in Sydney we've been clocking about 100 to 115 F or more , we got fires as close to mum & dads about a 15 minute drive away.
about 45 minutes drive from my place.
Now it is about 22 degrees , & raining some of your prayers have got thru thank you everyone & Az for the help.
Please tell god to direct any spare rain to Melbourne we are fine. those poor buggers are up against it big time.
i heard about some of your fire fighters coming down to give a hand, THANK YOU from all of us Aussies.
My twin brother left the army & joined the airforce as a fire fighter, he was never so proud of the day he became one.
He deid later ( murdered) but i know he was so proud to be a firery.
thank you Bronzebow members & my friends .
We appreciate it, digger TT2 Dougy

g'day aaron , thank you for your prayers & kottie &mike NY, my sons name is Aaron.
i'll le him know that there is an Aaron in America , saying a few prayers for my wifes cousins & all the other Aussies down there in Melbourne.
just told him & he sadi to say " hello" to another Aaron.
mate thank you all agian on the site for your prayers,
the more areas they go into they are finding more bodies. Now the whole place is being sealed off & treated like a crime scene. A lot of these fires have been lit on purpose.
That is really the sad part about it all.
what have we come to when people do this & cause so much pain & loss.?

G'day Tim , & everyone great to see you all care, some were lit by arsenists ,others by lighting.
we've lost about a million acres, the death tolls on the rise. 181 but there are alot of houses that till haven' been sifted thru. estinmates are high on what we will find.
Can you believe that one of the arsenists actually cased his own hometown to totally be destroyed & lots died. What do you give that guy for his actions?
REDCROSS is taking donations so if you as friends & fellow human beings, can spare a buck then donate. I'm embarrased to mention it BUT in those ashes are families bodies,
lives & dreams alll gone.
It is the biggest disaster we have faced as a nation.
My twin was a fireman in the airforce , loved the job, he wasa charcter who would back up a mate/cobba, put his hand in his pocket to shell out a buck for the salvation army as i do regulary.
Anyone who stands beside another to face a fire be it professional or a man protecting his family .
deserves all the help we can give.
think you for sending your fireman, to help us now in our time of need.
if you want to help another go with out a soda or a beer, go with out a burger & donate its cost to the red cross.
The cost of that burger or coke might mean the differnce of putting warmth in a little kids stomach, it might be the last few bucks needs in the cost of a petrol generator to giving a family light in their house .
it might man the difference in showing them that in a time where everyone is out for wjat they can get , selfishness & greed , some good poeple are stil out there in the world.
this is a place where the people are real, John thank you for letting me be a part of this site.
ELLEN TV show presenter there featured a film clip from YOU TUBE about a little Koala that was found in the fire , who drank 3 bottles of water from a volunteer , look for it & you will see what humanity & nature is all about , i saw it i could feel the tears coming.
THANKS USA for standing up being counted!

G'day still no news on my wifes cousins who live in the area s, that are threatened & some areas have already been hit.
We will sit & say a few prayers & cross our fingers for them.. some areras the police & military have sealed off , no one gets in or out.
Most of the fires are from lightning,i read the local Sydney paper ,it had a lift out.
On the back page was a 181 photos of the victims, faces, there names & the places where they died. it clawed it's way into my guts.
As I flicked thru the pages there where airiel photo's of the areas & marked the houses , who lived who died.
Some houses next to each other , it was bizarre your next door nieghbour & his family could of been burnt out & dead . On the other side of this dead neighbour someone else might of been spared.
Some of the people who survived felt so guilty to know that, their next door neighbour died & they weren't touched.
Now the fire has only got about 38 fires all going & they are joining up,
People were killed a hundred feet away from the actual fire by it eating up all the oxygen, they were found dead without a burn on them.
Suffocated!
I looked at a photo of a bunch of cars all burnt out , families in them. they didn't stand a chance, they were like ;
SNOWFLAKES IN HELL
as i stood in the kitchen i started to cry, tears rolled down my face , i felt so lost & sad for these families.
my 6 year old walked in as i tried to wipe away the tears, he looked at me , gave me a soft little smile & a wide birth.
Daddy was in pain, it is rare when i shed a tear.
but if you read what i did & saw the pictures you would cry with me & alot of other Australians.

Dear DIgger,
Thank you for sharing your story and for showing us a way to help. I hope it is helpful to you to reach out to America and other wonderful places in the world. My check is in the mail to the Australian Red Cross. My country was very grateful when others reached out to us during 911 and Hurricane Katrina. Please keep us informed as we care about you and your loved ones and your country. Remember tears on men are beautiful.
Our tears and prayers are with you cobba

G'day kottie you are amazing, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
It amazes me in this world there is a anti american element out there.
I hope they can read & know that here is a beautifull person who is reaching out to a stranger to hELP & make someone elses life a litle better in times of hardship.
this is the bravery & compassion that makes America great!
It's not the size of an army or anything else, its the size of the hearts in the people in that great nation of ours that stand out in my books.
Kottie THANKYOU! The act of kindness is noted, & to my last breath i will always remember your kindness & generosity to a bunch of strangers in need.
I want to tell Australians in need that a woman in the states reached out & helped us.
WHY? because in this world there are still good people who want to make a difference & DO!
mate in this world there are alot of people who talk , BUT only a few who act.
you are 1 of the few!
you are one of the few who make a difference in others lives. Kottie
I'll make sure that my fellow cobba's know ,that even over there you reached out & touched some lives.
THANKYOU SWEET HEART! maybe your help willbe the thing that will bring more hope into a little kids charred world, possibly take away the bite of coldness or put light into a dark room for them.
mate are you sure your not an aussie or have a bit of it in your blood somewhere?
you just displayed true ANZAC SPIRIT reaching out to a fallen cobba & making it better.

Thanks Digger
I am no different than many of my American brothers and sisters. We have a generous heart and give to many causes throughout the world. We are all God's chlldren and live under the same blue sky. (You taught me that). I am sure many Americans will be helping out as well as others in the world. They may not get any recognition and that is ok. They know who they are and God knows. What is important is that help is given when needed.
Take care Cobba and give your children a hug from me and tell them HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Hey DIgger,
We are sorry that we haven't got back to you sooner. We have been praying for you and for those in Australia. By the way, tell Australian Aaron that I said hi. We have some good friends that are over there but I am not sure where they have moved but I know that they were no where near the fires. We will continue to pray for those there and get some money to the Red Cross or some organization as soon as we can. Please keep us posted on anything that we can do.

Hi little Aaron from Australia,
My name is Kottie and yes it is my real nickname that my step daddy gave me. It is a Norwegian nickname for my real name which is a secret. SHHHHH.
I was born in a small town called Bagley , Minnesota which is in Northern Minnesota. Near Bagley is the beginning of the Mississippi River which is the biggest river in America and it cuts the United States almost in half. Where it empties into the Gulf of Mexico it is very wide and I have been there too. I have walked across the Mississippi River many many times and it is a lot of fun. There are a few ways to walk across it. You can keep your shoes on and walk across the rocks which bridge Lake Itasca and the beginning of the river. If you do that you may slip on the slippery rocks into the lake which is kinda fun. It helps to keep your shoes on so you don't slip but people frequently do slip and fall into the water. You can walk across a flat log which is kinda cheating . This is the fast route usually by kids who really don't like to get wet. Or you can take your shoes off and get wet and walk slowly across the little sharp pebbles in the water. The water is really clear which is good because then you can see creepy little things come to your toes like leeches or crayfish. As you can tell I do not like these little creepy things maybe because I am a girl but boys usually love them. Leeches tend to attach to your toes and they make you bleed a lot when you pull them off. So it is kinda fun when you see people react to them. Many people from around America stop to walk across the MIssissippi River. Your daddy can google the Headwaters of the Mississippi River and I think you can see pictures of what I am talking about. I hope sometime you can do this. Maybe you can find a river in Australia and walk across the beginning of it and then find the end of the RIver and maybe walk across the bridge of it. It is a lot of fun. I lived half my life in Northern Minnesota.
I moved to Wisconsin before I was married and have lived near a bigger town of about 10,000 people . I lived on a big dairy farm for many years raising my two children. I now live very close to the farm on a big hill overlooking the farm. I will send you a picture of the farm and my children when they were your age in their "farming clothes". My children had a lot of fun living on the farm. I will send you and your brother something special from WIsconsin .
I sent your daddy a small package yesterday. He will show you. In this package you will see the name of my town now and the shape of Wisconsin. It is a very special package for your daddy.
I hope you have fun learning about other places and people in the world. I have had fun learning about Australia. I like the koala bears and kangaroos. I am not so fond of snakes. Do you like snakes and reptiles Aaron?? If so you are brave and it good to like them. I have to try to get over my dislike for them as I know they are really cool.
Have a great day Aaron and hug your little brother,
Kottie

Little Aaron,
I forgot to tell you some things. Minnesota is well known for having over 10,000 lakes. I  Minnesota Lakes!! Have your daddy google Minnesota Lakes Pictures and check out the 50 pictures. Beautiful!!! Wisconsin is well known for its rolling hills and dairy farms. I  Wisconsin barns. Have your daddy google Barns in Wisconsin and check out the barns and Wisconsin farm pictures. This will give you a better understanding what things look like in my world.
I hope you like the pictures!!!

g'day kottie i class you as a cobba( good friend).
it's bit of a funny word it can be used in a varierty of ways & how you say it by your tone & circumstances. It's a bit like how we generalise everyone with "mate, '
mate can be a good friend.
you can say to a total stranger who ight be doing the wrong thing." come on mate , fair go, give it a break'
translated from aussie means " HEY YOU , THINK ABOUT IT, THAT"S ENOUGH, STOP IT! sometimes our slang can be a bit hard to get a grip of.
like When Aaron's eating dinner & taking all night to do it.
he gets " Mate pull your finger out & get a wriggle on."
Pull your finger out means= stop being lazy or bludging!= doing nothing, wasteing time.
Get a wriggle on means = to hurry up.
you can tell someone "to get a wriggle "on or tell yourself " I must get a wriggle on . hope it helps a little.
i've been told in the past to try & keep my local "lingo" = Language to a minium as you guys won't get what i'm talking about. :) Digger TT2 Dougy

g'day Larry do you get bush fires in Alaska ?are you to cold in that neck of the woods.?
I'm not up on the topography there in your part of the world.
i can remember my mates & i accidently strarting a bushfire in the jungle from the tracer from the 60's( M60's) it was pretty scarry it was a wall of flame hundreds of feet high & nothing you could do to stop it except run for it.
the local firebrigade ( BOMBA) turned up got out of the hiace van wearing orange overalls & utility belts , hair jelled & looking like Micheal Jackson
They said one word " @#$#%"got back in the van & ran for it too.
Mate the only way you could stop it was by it burning it's self out. ( SORRY we should of known better.) hard way to learn a lesson. no one got hurt luckily!

Dear Digger,
A funny thing happened on the way to the chapel yesterday. I have been so busy these past 5 days that I did not pay attention to the weather report . When I left home it had started to snow. About 4 miles later on top of a big hill it was like the heavens opened up and dumped a truck load of snow all over. My wipers worked well but there was instantly a thin layer of ice over my windshield. I could see a couple inches about 8inches above my dashboard . I did some serious praying and told Todd it was NOT funny. I made it down the hill and the windshield cleared. Once I was at the chapel I parked in a safe spot. The doors on that side of the church were locked. I had to walk around the block and could hardly see as the snow was constantly "being thrown by the buckets full" in my face. When I walked into church I was covered head to toe in snow . Unbelievable!!. I shook myself off and entered the office . The pastors were gone. I made sure my prayer requests were submitted to the pastor and the prayer chain and Sunday's congregation. Then I went into the chapel. I took my time praying. I felt Todd's presence with me since I had left home. Then I ventured back outside and found my buried car. Luckily I had a broom and I went around the car 3 times as the snow was still falling fast. I had to roll the windows down to see and I drove slowly to the post office. Then the firetrucks across the street took off. No doubt to an accident. Saying prayers for them I again went around my car 3 times with the broom and a man started to laugh at me. I was covered in snow and he told me I looked like a snowman. "Snow woman" I corrected him. He laughed again and told me he couldn't tell under all that snow. I knew I couldn't drive home and the postoffice was closing. So I rolled down the windows again and drove a couple blocks to the library. I had a headache and I hadn't eaten all day so I took a few Exedrin and a bag of M/M's (I love them) and rested on the sofa in the children's section and read all the children's books on Australia and New Zealand. About supper time the snow stopped and the plows went through. I went to my car and It was covered in ICE!!!. Finding a scraper I started scraping the car. A young man next to me was doing the same in his basketball shorts. I laughed . I didn't wear a hat or scarf or boots or gloves. I was defying winter as much as he was . (ITS CALLED THE NORDIC SPIRIT WHEN WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH). As I was getting into my car the church bells started ringing from across the road. "VERY FUNNY" I said outloud to Todd. On my way home it was beautiful. Everything was covered in a white blanket. It was nice until the last 2 miles when I had to play chicken with a John Deere tractor in unplowed snow. THAT IS ALWAYS FUN!!. No doubt a neighboring farmer who could pull me out if I ran into the ditch. Reaching home I greeted my husband and asked how his day was driving truck in that kind of weather. He said " WHAT SNOW??" (seriously). He was on the other side of the river and they had no snow storm. Anyway Just wanted to let you know MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! And now I know how it feels to be a snowman. OOPS. SNOW WOMAN

g'day kottie i love your story, you have a way with words.
i could see it all. i'll print it off & read it to the boys & my wife.
I'm working on an idea for dougy & todd; when it's done i'll email it to you & put it on the site here.
It may be a way , for everyone to relax quickly & get in touch with the simple &beautifull things on or lives.
we spemnd so much of our time rnning about or getting stressed out, geed seems to consume the world & it's in times of crisis & sickness that we really find out what & who are important.
Maybe if we aloud ourselves each day 5-10minutes to get in touch with the simpe things , take the time out to remember loved ones here & gone past, say a small prayer for people in need other then ourselves.
this time could easily be applied after we've done our tiger moves ( M7's)as a time to wind down.
kottie thank you for sharing your outing , i'm glad your safe.
here in sydney it sunny & mild with a grey sky & a few clouds.
My 4 year old has gone on a holiday to the snow fields with his lile couin & grandparents( thereis NO snow there this ime of year)
Az is going out with K & i to have dinner at the denistone bowling club ( lawn bowls), at Jasons restraunt, great food great prices. he'll think that's pretty great a he can walk over & order his own desert & pay for it.
this was the same place where Az met his first love & only love besides icecream & chocolate topping & sprinkles .
Cathy a attractive 20 year old waitress doing her degree in psychology & working her way thru uni there.
Az 7 his little brother wooed her with drawings , of flowers & portaits of the family , drawing of her & jason the owner at work.
some of them hang on the kitchedn walls:handshake:,
we went for dinner there on the last night Cathy was working there. she's finished her degree & was nolonger needing to wok in the restraunt.
It was sad to see my 5 year old have his heart broken as Cathy said goodbye to him J.
Az did a special drawing for her that night with her & him in it ,with rainbows , a happy bright sun folwers.
Always sad when puppy love comes to an end.
Cathy was very sad also she loves my ittle boys very much.
I had to spend extra time that night when putting Az to bed to explain it to him , that people move on in life & have top do what they do, it doesn't mean they don't like you or love you less.
i hope when Az grows up he meets a girl like Cathy!

God Bless little Aaron's heart:love-over:
I've been there myself. My first love was at the age of 6 years old. I was one of the last kids on the school bus and sometimes would sit with my favorite cousin in the back of the bus. He would hold me in his lap. I would stare at his best friend . This happened almost every day in first grade on the way to school. Everyone on the bus knew I was "in love". My family never knew. On the last day of school he told me he would marry me someday. All the guys on back of the bus were drafted to Vietnam. Never spoke or saw him again. HOWEVER HE WILL BE AT THE ALL SCHOOL REUNION IN 2010 AND I AM GOING TO TELL WHAT A STINKER HE WAS !!!. My cousin will back me up. LOL

Hi Everyone,
Thought I would share some news I have been reading. The worst of the Australian bushfire season that claimed 210 lives in the past month has been declared over as rain fell and wind speeds declined. There are 4 remaining contained fires . The search for bodies will continue for the next 3 weeks. Pray they will find no more casualties. The communities of Victoria Australia can start the process of grieving and rebuilding without the ever-present threat of fire.
February 7 (now known as Black Saturday) was driven by winds as strong as 125 kilometers per hour and it was preceded by 2 weeks of record high temperatures that reached 118 degrees Fahrenheit. 2000 homes were lost. Over 1.1million acres of land destroyed.
0.8 inches of rain was recorded in the areas of the 4 blazes and the winds declined from 100 kilometers per hour to 28 miles an hour in the past day. (an answer to prayer) BUT KEEP THE PRAYERS COMING!!
Victoria has had a 12 year drought and Melbourne has had the driest January and February since records began in the 1850's
HOW TO HELP??? (continue to pray)
When you google the Australian Red Cross you can find the secure online donation site to the
VICTORIAN BUSHFIRE APPEAL 2009
Also of interest to those in Australia is the booklet "COPING WITH A MAJOR PERSONAL CRISIS"which contains information to help you understand how adults and children have reacted in similar situations, and how you can help normal healing to occur and avoid pitfalls. This booklet can be downloaded online. Review it and pass it on. This is provided by the Australian Red Cross and is on their online site
I also noted that the San Diego Zoo in California was taking donations to benefit animals left homeless by bush fires in Australia January and February. The money will go to Wildlife Victoria which will use the funds for immediate rescue and care for animals. The money also will go toward assisting Wildlife Victoria in long-term habitat restoration . The funding will allow food to be dropped into the burned areas for animals who survived the fires but now have no source of food. Donations are being accepted online at :
sandiegozoo.org/zoo/australiabushfire and by mail at:
Australian Wildlife Bushfire Relief
The San Diego Zoo
P.O.Box 120551
San Diego, California 92112-0551
Keep the prayers and ideas coming everyone.
Thanks so much for the support!!!
Kottie
P.S. TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF DIGGER !! I will have a good time at the all school reunion no matter what happens. Todd's brother "Doug" will be there and Todd's friend "Glen" promised me country western dancing so I already have my hat and boots. He is a rancher now in Wyoming (we all grew up together). Doug is a major general with the Air Force and will retire soon. I have know Todd since we were 4 years old. I last saw him when we were 19 years old and he was dancing to the music "Billie Jean" with Michael Jackson. He gave me a great smile and a wave goodbye. Wonderful Memories!!

g'day kottie thank you for everything darl.
thank you for the update you are better informed then some of us Sydney siders.:clown:
it is funny that My twins name is Glen & he was known as Doug or Dougy in the airforce where he reached the exalted rank of fireman.
he was a funny bugger he sent me a picutre of him standing in his underpants & his fireboots on & wearing his firemans helmet.
tattoo's & all.
i might post it sometime. On his helmet he had a smiley face drawn & it said, HAVE A NICE DAY>:monkey:
Dougy was bit of a classic, he used to have a pretty wild sebnce of humor.
when we had his funeral it was the same as what a general would of got, along with honor cars, all the traffic stoped at the intersections.
I can remenmber flying past in ther car & on the roadside a local aboriginal bloke( MAN stood with his head bowed in respect for my twin, a man he never even knew.)
It always amazed me that a " digger" baggy arsed fireman was awarded the same honor & respect as a general.
even with the 21 gun salute! kottie i'm drawing something special for you & the family.
Aaron was amazed that people on the other side of the world could care so much even when you've never met them face to face.
I told him that's how you can tell when they are specail when they reach out to help others.
thank you kottie, Steve, Big Aaron & everyone who prayed for us & donated.
These are the qualities i want my l little boy to learn, compassion, generosity to reach out & help another human when in trouble.. thank you one & all,

Hi All,
I hope that all is well and that all of you are in good health and spirit. Kottie I have a farm in Silver Creek about 12 miles from Two Harbors Minnesota and I have stood in the very head waters of the Mississippi many years ago. I also grew up on a farm, milking cows and growing a heck of alot of potatoes. I have been extremely busy working on alot of different projects. I will be in Florence Alabama next week training and teaching at the World Tang Soo Do masters clinic. I will be in Canada in May teaching a seminar and testing students in a great town called Salmon Arm. The Res-pect team has been working nonstop at finishing the Res-pect program. We have run in to many unexpected challenges but hope to have it completed in a couple of months. We will be having John"s company publish and design the final project. It is a totally unique way in training and teaching health care workers in dealing with violent clients. If you have and interest go to our basic website Res-pect 'com.. Our SSS crew has been working very ,very hard on working on some of the concepts that we wish to produce in the next advanced 4 part SSS series. We will keep you posted. I have been training hard running at least five miles a day with John's exercise program. I expect a very busy summer with a couple of wild adventures. I will be running the Yukon River to stay on the Charlie river 4th of July. I will be on a three day trip in to George Lake June 1st. Then I will be dropped off a float plane and float to the Ocean some time in September. I will also be in Greece lecturing at the World Health Conference in September. I will be teaching SSS seminars wherever I requested so I do have a bust schedule coming up. To all be safe, let me know what some of your plans are this summer and most importantly, be safe, and as always thanks for the great threads and kinds and concerns you are always sharing with one another. your friend, Larry

Hey Digger,
I just saw this post for the first time. I had no idea that Australia has been suffering so much. Not a word about it on the news down here.
I want to let you know I am and will be thinking of you and the others who suffered in different ways.
Also, thanks so much for the comb that you sent. It finally made it to me through the Costa Rica post office system. While I don't have much hair to comb, I just did view Larry's SSS DVDs and know some things to do with it for self-defense. Thanks so much, mate.

Hi Everyone!
Hank,
I was in Moose Lake a long time ago with a bus load of nursing students to tour the Moose Lake Minnesota State Sanitarium. It was interesting.
I have not been to Winona, Minnesota. It is a very beautiful town along the Mississippi River. My best friend Todd went to community college at Winona and he had his own apartment there the month he died. He had been to a party and was making new friends but left the party early. About 4am he was awakened by a new friend at his apartment. Apparently two brothers had a fight who was going to drive home. They had been drinking and the oldest was too drunk to drive but would not give up the keys to the truck. The younger brother walked to Todd's to ask for a ride home as he had to milk cows in the morning. Todd being a great guy gave him a ride home. On the way back to Winona he met the drunk brother on the road . The truck crossed into Todd's path and hit him head on. Both trucks exploded and both were burned to death. Todd was only 19 years old . We had been friends since we were 4 years old. Digger has honored Todd's memory for me. Todd was a wonderful friend . Digger is a great guy too!!
Larry,
Nice to hear from you. I didn't know you milked cows. My husband says Hi. He milked cows for over 30 years on a dairy farm. As a kid I did my share of planting and harvesting potatoes, too. Only I planted them by hand and at to manage the weeds with a very dull hoe. I couldn't keep up with the mustard and Canadian Thistle. It was ONLY a couple acres of potatoes. My parents planted sweet corn after that.
I wish you well with your projects. I did check out the ResPect program and it looks interesting. I always like to hear of your adventures Larry. You are so free spirited. You seem to achieve your goals no matter how challenging.
I will be in northern Minnesota for Easter and again over the 4th of July as my brother is coming up from North Carolina . I will be walking across the Mississippi with my nephews!!. We hope to go on a hot air balloon ride this summer with the whole family and then I will be going up the North Shore Drive this summer and fall. I like Gooseberry Falls near Two Harbors. We usually stop at BETTY'S PIES . I went to nursing school in Duluth and lived in Duluth 5 years. My roommate bought a farm north of Duluth and we hope to see her this fall also.
Have a great time in Greece Larry and I hope to see you around Minnesota sometime!!
Digger,
I am still reading your book. I love "Nurse Shelly". My daughter would love her too. You know I think I crossed paths with Larry in my "Nurse Shelly" days.

Hi Digger,
Just wanted you to know my family watched the movie "AUSTRALIA" with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman this week. I know it is "Hollywood" but I really enjoyed it. I did not know about the bombing of the city of Darwin(Australia) by the Japanese forces that attacked Pearl Harbor(USA). One very touching scene for me was the boy playing "Somewhere over the Rainbow" on his harmonica. As a little girl I loved the movie "The Wizard of Oz". It is still a favorite and I have sang that song all my life. I played it on the guitar, piano and harmonica when I was a little girl. I sang it to my children as a lullaby . When I go on our Hot Air Balloon Ride this summer I am going to play it on harmonica in flight and surprise my family (I will practice privately) My family will think I am crazy but THEY WILL REMEMBER IT!! Maybe they will sing along. That would be fun!! :musical-note:
Sing it to your children as a lullaby. (It would touch your wife's heart and your parents)
Make those memories!!:rainbow:

Ok I must admit I forgot the words to the song "Over the Rainbow" so I looked it up and found lyrics to the whole movie. I had to laugh because I tried to sing the other songs and my husband and son gave me "THE EYE". I came home from work early yesterday with a bad cold. There they were smiling at me when I walked into the house. They were watching "The Wizard of Oz". Both laughing and giggling . I understand now why the song was used in the "Australia" movie. "The Wizard of Oz" was written in 1939 and the song "Over the Rainbow" was a favorite of American soldiers during World War11. It was a very popular song in America and Britain when Darwin, Australian was bombed by the Japanese.

g'day klottier i ;m glad you liked it. darwin was bobmed i think over thirty times. I think it had a massive amount on bomb tonage dropped on it.
most Ausralian's don't even know that.
i'm glad to here someone say something nice about the movie, i didbn't listen to the hype , BS or the critics . I just went with my wife K & saw it & went with the flow.
If you sit back & let the story unwind it's a good yarn.
sometimes the publicity machine & the critics can spoil a really NICe movie before it even gets out of the Starting gate.
This was one of those times.
it's a good story with great actors, a chance to escape for a few hours.
So i'm glad to hear a freind enoyed it.
yes i also like wizard of oz & i watched Mary Poppins with my little boys the other day & it to was a delight.
get well soon kotie love from the boys & i.
Did you guys see tyhe local bikies kill another guy from the Hells Angels at the airport the other day here?
At least 20 guys going at it.
sorry kottie thaught whilst i'm here i'd stick it in,
4 blokes beat another guy to death with the barrier poles.

Hey little brother (Digger),
Klottier?? Kotie?? Better check the juice in the fridge. Well, I have not heard the news on TV or in the newspaper but it is online. It is amazing that it is already in the online encyclopedia of the "you know who"biker club. The Nordic Biker Wars were bad. Denmark has tried to ban some biker clubs.
Rest assured little brother, we are not going to discuss it here because "you know who" biker club members read google and online stories too and I am not going to give them any attention. (Need to keep you safe) Radio announcers also search the web and bring forth what is discussed also. I have already been down that road with the "Canadian Decapitator". Yup, woke up with my alarm clock one morning at 0545 to the radio announcer saying "EVERYBODY IS TALKING ABOUT KOTTIE ON THE POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT FORUM OF TRANSFORMETRICS" I shut the radio off at that point and my husband asked what was wrong. I told him everybody was talking about me and he laughed and said "Yeah right". Thank God it was Saturday and we both had the day off work. It bothered me all day. I knew immediately what happened. A radio announcer was looking for a topic and he found that one and my comments. The station ONLY covers 2 million people from the midwest. Thank God only my immediate family knew my nickname and they live far away. So I just went to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and had a great time with my family. AKELLY would have loved it (the festival that is)
I love riding a Harley Davidson . We have many bikers in the area who love it too. We especially like going down the Great River Road . We enjoy the charity runs. I am proud of the Patriot Riders. Too bad some guys have to give bikers a bad rap. Did you know Harley-Davidson is a Milwaukee , Wisconsin company?? Thats why I sent you the patches. Something special out of WIsconsin.
I am having a lot of trouble with my computer lately so I will sign off now.
Stay Safe (and don't drink anymore of the juice)

g'day Digger,
Thank you for everything!!!! We have our trees planted and it is so awesome to see them when I drive up the driveway. My daughter is coming home from college tonight. We plan to put in a flag pole and we wanted her to help put it up. My husband and I are so proud of OUR children. We will let her pick out a tree too. I know her heart is set on a weeping willow. My flowers are beautiful. I haven't seen an eagle for a while but we do have a woodchuck in the back yard and a lot of turkeys. As soon as I put up my hanging flower baskets a hummingbird will arrive. I can bet on it. Every year it happens and it is such a joy to see. We have a new memorial sanctuary this year. It is very awesome. So we are looking forward to the program this year. I wanted to put pavers in for my military family but I am going to wait until my daughter is totally done with her active duty in the Army. My friend feels the same way about her 3 sons in the Wisconsin National Guard. Tomorrow is a very big day. I hope to run in a memorial run for a twin who passed away a couple years ago. She ran grandma's marathon the year before she died. She was in her late 20's and has an identical twin who will be there of course. Just wanted you to know that. I hope I can talk to her a little but I know it will be a busy day for her and I think it would be best to talk at another time. Also I have helped to set up a memorial for my friend who passed away June 7th last year. We worked together as nurses. We both love riding harley's and the Green Bay Packers and would wear our Brett Favre shirts on game days. We will be wearing Green Bay Packer Brett Favre shirts on her memorial day. A memorial biker run is planned. And also we want to place a piece of artwork either an angel or nature in our winter garden area at work. She collected angels. I thought you would like to know that. I have had fun dancing at a benefit for my physcian friend and his family who are going to Tanzania on a medical mission trip this summer. We had a great time dancing to country western mostly. But some of the docs did get out there to dance to the Beatles and Rock and Roll as Well. It was soooo much fun. Do you still dance Digger??? What kind of music do you like to dance to. I have somethings that are simple and special to send you. It may be a while before I send them.
How is Australia??? I still pray for your people and country. Is there anything more I can help with??.
Please take a moment to remember your loved ones this weekend.
Larry I have special prayers for you as well. I know you have lost a loved one. I wish you love, peace and comfort as well.
Have a meaningful Memorial Day

g'day kottie today is a goodone , i get to catch up with my twinless twin buddies. there can be he odd sad moments but we tend to roll with the punches on those. Then enjoy the get together .
I trained the other night in my tae whon do, with a bit of self defence thrown into the bargain. the system is called " eye of the eagle" the instructor is a pretty decent guy. we did abit of stuff on dealing with fear & how it can creep over your body.
we formed a circle with him on th farside.
Then he pulled out a ver big stick & started to throw it to us all you had to catch it one handed, peope with glasses had to take them off.
this did add an elemet of aprehensionasss a few of us were defintiley at an disadvantage with out glasses.
Then every one had to catch with one eye closed, definitley adds to the moment then you had to swap eyes.
This also created to a dregree an elemet of fear, but you just had to trust yourself. people with crap coordination were probablyore scared then the others.
Now the fun bit you had to close both eyes & catch it, this did bring out a higher level of aniexty.
but i must admit it was a good drill.
It is nice to go back to the mighty rank of white belt. sometimes after being an instructor it is refreshing to learn new tings from a totallynew perspective.
I'm still training on a buggered up foot, this also adds a new dimension to kicking, balance & movement. it can effect your whole daily life along with your training.
Training with a injury thet resticts these things is also a good lesson in adapting, disapline, commitment & sometimes stupidity. taining to have no fear is a very interesting thing. well worth the effort.
nisct to here about the memorial day kttie, say hi to the family
I'll have a Millers beer tonight when i get home for you all.
i bought a slab / carton it tastes great.
i must adnmit the other day as i walked into thw shopping centre a woman was walking out witha slab of Miller's in her arms.
I said to her "nice beer isn't it." she repiled "it saved my life & i'm not evern a beer drinker"
i had no idea what she was on about but she was happy as a pig in a pig carrying that slab of millers.
Got my class of women & 1 guy ,doing some work the medicine ball. they lined up & the person at the front had to throw it agsinst the wall, then after 4 catches pass it behind to the next lady. meanwhile every one had to constanlty throw light fast short jabs for a bit of cardio.
everyone was doing this for ages & if one person stopped for even a 2 seconds everyone got down for 10 pushups.
One team spent fair bit of time on the deck, the other not so much. i also give out push ups if any one is dicking about & not paying attention. ( you muck about or disrupt the class we all hit the deck.)
they had a tuff session & learnt a few good things.
There was a alot of laughs also which is very important along with a few classics at my expence which is cool with me.
we did a bit with earslaps up close & personal right in your face, then i finished off with an incoming batton atack on their head whilst in a coner, this was to teach them
you either move or get hit.
They were very fearfull as each had to face a full spead attack with a pool batton.
good news everyone got out of the way & 99percent went past me, for the ones who went backwards I kept on coming at them, them.
They had to do i all over again. They learnt the beauty of movement or get hit! the deaf girl went well especialy in the earslaps on a close up attacker.
The signing person got to do the batton attack & nearly got cleaned up because she was half mentally there.
i came in with the overhead swing ,she was thinking about signing & forgot to run. i pulled the blow bout 1/2 an inch off her head. Then I asked her why didn't she move fast. She told me her mind was in 2 places, i told her to get her mind in one place .
or in the real world it would be al over the concrete. I came in again & she moved like a fleeting gazalle. i told them the should be very pleased with the way they moved, bottom line in a real situation there movement would keep them alive.
All is well here n aussie besides floods, up north ,there they are use to that, tough buggers up north.
will email you at home Kottie.
Larry whats new with you cobba, i was using your movement methods you taught in my tae whon do clases the other night & just keppt on slipping by & taking them out from behind.
thanks for your support & the triple sss work , is paying off.

G'Day Grant,
It was a beautiful and awesome Memorial Day. I have many pictures for you . The veterans and their families loved your Eagle drawing as it was set upright among the boulders with flowers. Girlscouts and boyscouts saw it as well. A veteran looked at it for a very long time. A young bagpiper stood above it and he was very good. The patriot riders were great. Actually everything was great. It was the best service I have ever been to and my family enjoyed it . I will write you more later as I am working the afternoon shift and doubling back to day shift tomorrow morning. Just wanted you to know it was awesome and very meaningful for me. I can bring the picture every year to this event as it is personal for me. Of course I showed everyone your pictures of you and Dougy and your father. Thanks again Digger. :flag:

G'day last night in my selfdefence class we did strangles ;then i pumped them up to full on strangles. Here's a drill to add a little bit of fun , fear but in the same time get you going for it.
Put your student up against the wall, then get another student t stand in front of them with a slighlty less then half blown up balloon. ( the kind of balloon that you will reallyhave to put an effortin to break.)
The aim is to give fear & add streess yet in the same time , teach them to move thru it & eascape out.
when they are in position make them CLOSE THEIR EYES & KEEP THEM SHUT) not letting them see the balloon, you stand off to the side 2 feet, you are the one who will be giving out the throat crush & strangle.
Now the student in front of them will put the balloon up very close to their face ( RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT)
GO!
Put on a strangle that has them thinking wow this is bad, but DON"T ACTUALLY INJURE THEM.( it is psycholgical thing, remember the fact their eyes are closed will already make the threat level go right up.)
Once they feel the danger to their throat they have to keep their eyes closed , reach out & discover the ballon, then eye gouge it with both thumbs.
WHEN IT POPS they will get a blast of air in theface & a loud !BANG !in front of them, then you release the strangle , they can open their eyes when it goes BANG! not before.
This drill is to get you to train in a pyscically threating positing, along with the blindness to increase the feeling of the whole experience, the BANG is a trigger to open tyour eyes as the threat is gone.
exploding & attacking in a anhanced situation.
EVERYONE got out of the strangle with vicious fast agressive eye gouges whilst the whole time being totally blind, with a threat on their air way & blood supply.
NO -ONE GOT HURT or INJURED, they all worked outside their comfort zone & found it fun, ONE of the girls had a big phobia about popping balloons, mate she did it blind with a huge threat on her throat.
I'll take my hat off to her realy going outside the conmfort zone , everyone enjoyed it.
i didn't get a go because we ran out of ballooons.:(
everyone wanted to do it again .
It was uncle Mal who said try to put fun into your training! thanks Uncle mal.
kottie thanks or erverything darl.
At the moment i'm doing a drawing a present for a conference for twinles twins in the states.
It is of an bald eagle's face bursting out of the middle of your american flag. With other silohetes of bald eagles flying in the background.
i'm putting in tonnes of detail, hopefully it will be ready in time & turn out the way i want it to. It maybe auctioned off for charity.
kottie it was specially nice to hear that my first ever drawing of an bald eagle & the american flag wrapped around it , was put in such as place of honor as a memorial to people who put on the uniform & served your country with such bravery , honor & sacifce. every tme i pick up my pencils , paint brushes & do a peice of art for someone who has fallen is a gift from god.
it honors me ,my family& country to know that my art has touched someone enough to have a lone piper play above it.
i want my drawings to touch your souls.
i'll email you & anyone else a copy of this new eagle &" bursting for freedom"
nice to see you all.

I guess I like toys just as much as you boys do.

g'day there is always room in our lives for super hereo's, the boys recon that watching superhero's on TV is a 50/10 rating it just that cool.
the boys advice to the world is that
They should make super hero's real.
That they should make everyone in the world a superhero's, kids, grown ups .
(A )would like to be able to change him self into any person he wants to & shoot webs, he could also turn into a person who could fly. One of his favourite people to turn into would be " clayface"
(J) would like to have ice powers, fire powers, finger nails to be like claws, & want rock powers to throw rocks out of my hands & then shoot lasers out of my chest, then i want bat wings.
As for me i'm quite happy being digger , my super power would be to make people laugh their bum off, being able to make my bald patch disapear at will. & the ability to make super hero's.
what super powers would you all like to have?

DIgger,
You are already a superhero. You can make me laugh and cry anytime. I'm just putty in your hands.
A) OHHHHHHH NOOOOOOO NOT CLAYFACE!!!!!!!:messed: He is Batman's main enemy !!!!! But does he drive a coooool car or a coooool bike or a coooool copter? Think not!!! BATMAN is MUCH more COOOOOLLLL!!
J) I would like to be the superhero STORM because she can send lightning bolts whereever she wishes. And she looks great in black. And I LOVE her hair. Not every girl has hair like that. Her eyes can glow too and she has COOOOOL friends with ice power and fire power and Wolverine is kinda cute.
Actually I took the Superhero quiz and I am most like SUPERGIRL!!! That just tickles me. I used that SUPERGIRL mindset today when I ran in the M +M Memorial Race. M+M are twins and one passed on from Melanoma at the age of 32 years old with 3 beautiful daughters. She loved to run with her twin in many marathons. Anyway it was a beautiful day and my daughter and I ran up hills and down hills and through the cemetery and about the lakefront. We celebrated life today. Releasing purple and black balloons for our loved ones in heaven. Learning about Melanoma and practicing great advice from our Australian friends.
SLIP, SLAP and SLOP !!!!:glasses-cool:
Slip on a shirt, Slap on a hat and sunglasses and Slop on sunscreen (15-30 every 2 hours)
I need to take a nap now. We have a great graduation party to attend to this afternoon.
I will have a Miller for you guys to CELEBRATE LIFE!!!

g'day Kottie i'm making a survival kit for twins who lose a twin, i'll post you a set for her i hope it helps.
it is called " diggers survival kit" i tested it out the other day with a nurse ;was open minded it touched her soul & will no doudt help her in life to come if ever she meets a twin who is separatwed,or losing their twin or has lost their twin.
i've sent them to a few to twins in the States, & they all reckon that they are so precious, one who is a black belt in a variety of styles told me ,that if anyone tried to to take his wallet they'd be making an appointment in the next world, they mean that much to him.
i'll send you & Larry a set , i hope Larry NEVEr needs them , but he also may meet twins in his experinces who walk this pert of the journey, we are out there, we are very hard to spot, when you loose your twin you become invisible to the outside world.
Larry i would like to send you a set of these wallet sized prints , if you don't mind.
they are not meant to pre empt fate, they are a thing that twins sadly one day might need to help them kope & make it along in life.
in your travels if you ever meet another twin who has lost their twin drop me a line 7 i'll send them a set.

Hi Kottie, Digger, and All,
I just spent a half hour writing and responding to some of your questions. When I posted it, it did not come up!!!!!! I sometimes hate the computor world, because I am such a computor idiot. Digge,r keep on traininjg and I hope that your loved lives get back to normal. Lets see if I can poet this!!!!

Hi Larry,
Have a great 4th of July !!! I hope you get to fish and swim and boat until your heart's content. Just to let you know Digger is a very busy man. He continues to train and teach self defense. He is doing very well with his artwork and his book and makes a big difference every day in the life of many. He also spends quality time with his children and beautiful wife and his parents. He is feeling much better and is on a roll with his projects. All those he loves are doing well. I hope you guys can get together sometime because I know you will have a great time. Keep in mind he loves art and is doing what he always dreamed of doing. He will post you soon .
Hi Digger,
I would love a DIgger survivor kit. What a great idea!! May I have two. There are 2 twinless twins that have touched my heart. The other is a young man who lost his twin brother at the age of 17. He is in his mid twenties now. I hope you and your family are enjoying the summer. My prayers are still with those in Australia affected by the fires. Take care and make sure you make a special weekend for Mrs. Digger away from the house and work and the boys. You both deserve a relaxing fun weekend together.
Thanks to all who serve our military. I appreciate all the hard work that you do for America. A special thanks to my daughter who is at Warrior Forge , Washington in officer's training and then will be off to Fort Sam Houston Texas. YOU GO GIRL!!!!
