I wanted to start posting my workouts each day. I workout with my husband even though he does more than I do and we still spend quality time together and have a lot of fun getting healthy together. Back in June I lost 30 pounds with these exercises and with diet. I have a lot of health problems also. The exercises we do help give me energy and helps with my joint problems. I hope that by me posting, this will help other women as well. We do different exercises each day to make it interesting, but we still use a core set of exercises.
Because of my disease fibromyalgia, my joints swell. Especially my wrist tendons and my neck and elbows. Often I have to stay with DVR's when I have a painful day, while Greg does DSR's or pushups. So we don't always do the same things, but we do things together. I am so glad he quit making me do all those different things he tried to make me do especially the squats on the toes and the weights! The weights made me hurt. I am glad he found something I like to do. I'd get so mad when he'd buy some tee-shirt for some stupid super squats program because I know he'd make me do those exercises too! All these things he made me do didn't help me, but added weight to me and made me hurt worse. But, John's programs have helped me with my appearance and health.
Yesterday - P.M.
DVR neck
DVR Torso rotations
DVR seated twists
DVR seated side bends
Seated DSR leg squeeze
Atlas shoulder roll
Atlas one leg row
Mule Flex
Circuits 10 reps, 15 reps, 20 reps
Panther pushups
Atlas situps
High reach
Split squats
*I really wanted to start doing this, because I really believe in John's programs. I am shy and I tend to ramble on, or either I don't know what to say, but I hope you'll forgive me in that. And just know I want to help by letting people know that John's programs really works. If I can enjoy working out, anyone can! I used to hate working out, until Greg introduced me to his programs. Now I enjoy it.

Hi Lori,
You have started a new trend! You are very brave! (I don't recall seeing other women post workouts, but then again I don't check this section often because I thought it was only guys anyway.)
It sounds like things are going really well for you, losing weight, getting healthy, AND having fun with your husband - all at the same time!
I'll have to look up fibromyalgia... In one of the sites, there are quite a lot of symptoms. You seem to mention just joint pain. Are there treatments for it?
You mentioned you are shy. It is hard to tell on a forum like this. I am also shy, although maybe it doesn't come across in writing. Anyway, I am glad you are posting. I look forward to reading how it is going for you. Maybe I'll join you here posting workouts...although I might post my general rotating schedule instead of a day-by-day kind of thing.
I wanted to ask what a few things in your workout are:
DVR Torso rotations
DVR seated twists
DVR seated side bends
Seated DSR leg squeeze
Atlas shoulder roll - is this the second Tiger move?
Atlas one leg row
Mule Flex
I assume split squats are on one leg. Is your other leg in front or in back?
If these are in either M7, Wendie's book, or IPR, you can tell me which section it might be in and I will look it up. I am not trying to make a lot of work for you in describing the exercises - if it is too much then don't worry about it. Maybe everyone else already knows what they are.
Thanks again for posting, and I look forward to hearing from you. :)
Much success and health,
April

Hi April,
DVR torso rotations come from IPR. Clasping the arms overhead, you slowly rotate your torso.
DVR seated twists come from the Atlas course and are found in Powerflex. Clasp hands behind head and slowly twist from side to side under tension.
DVR seated side bends also come from the Atlas course. With hands clasped behind head, slowly, under tension, move from side to side as if you were between two pains of glass.
DSR inner leg squeezes are found in M7 and Wendy's book and are the same, except I do them seated instead of sqautting on the toes .
What I call the Atlas shoulder roll is where you force the trapezius and latisimus muscles backwards and flex them. It is in M7.
The Atlas row is in M7 and I think Wendy's book, but is the resisting of the leg against the pull of the bicep and back. It can also be done seated.
The Mule Flex is in M7 and in Powerflex. You touch the toes and slowly reach back and up, throwing the arms backward.
The split squat is done with the rear foot propped backwards on a bed or chair.
I am sorry that it has taken so long to answer but I have to use greg's lap top and he usually has it at work.I hope that helps and that you might know some of what we do.To answer about my symptoms I have alot of different things that are wrong but they are so many that I usually talk about the joint pain so if it can help someone else,I try to also let people know that I have fibromyalgia I have carpal tunnel in both hands and also nerve damage in my lower back and my face and tmj.So as you can see there is so much to put I try to just list one or two things. My symptoms are that I am tired all the time and my joints swell and hurt all the time,I have severe headaches. That is why when I started on Johns program and have had such wonderful results I want to let others know the benefits of his workouts. One of the treatments that I have done is guaifenesin therapy,it is suppose to help get rid of phosphates that build up in the tissues and that build up is what causes the swelling in my body that are called trigger points ,they feel like knots and they are very painful.I hope I have explained every thing and I hope you will start posting here ,that would be nice to have someone to talk too.Hope to hear from you soon.Lori

Hi Lori,
Thanks for taking the time to answer. A few of the exercises are new to me.
I am sorry to hear about the many aspects of fibromyalgia that you suffer from. That must be very hard. It is great the John's exercises are helping you. There are so many benefits to the exercises. Who knows, in the coming years there may be scientific breakthroughs that will help you even more.
I have a friend who had a severe and debilitating back injury. The Lord told her to start praying about it, so she did. A few years later a doctor told her about a new procedure for helping people like her. As it turned out, she discovered that at the time she began praying, the new procedure was starting to be developed. So it was as though through prayer she was helping to develop the very procedure that would help her to live a normal life again. With prayer, who knows what kind of medical breakthroughs may come about that could help you?
Yesterday I traveled by bus to visit my oldest son who lives in another city. It was a bit of a rush in the morning today because I had to catch the bus back, so I just did some push-ups when I woke up and the Tiger moves. I ran, literally, to the bus station. On the bus, which was a 2 hour ride, I decided to do some seated isometrics since I was restless and bored. I did some things from the books and then made up some other things. Everyone on the bus was sleeping so I didn't worry about what they thought. And if they would have asked, I could have told them about this great exercise program. But it occurred to me that travelers might be interested in a short book of in-flight seated isometric workouts. Really, my little bus-ride workout left me feeling quite refreshed. I may write another post in the main section about it.
Have a great day and a great workout today! God bless you. I am glad we can correspond here.

Hi April,
It was great to hear from you. Thanks so much for writing to me. That is wonderful to hear what happened to your friend. You are so right about prayer helping and I do believe that the Lord answers not only with instantly healing us but also by doctors finding new cures and procedures to help us through illness. What you wrote about doing some of the exercises while on the bus, that is what is so great about John's programs is you can do them any where you don't have to carry things with you and they do help to refresh you even if doing just a few. Well I will close for now. Talk to you soon. Lori:bashful:

fibromyalgia is one of those controversial conditions. Just like chronic fatique syndrome. A name doctor give because they have no clue what it is or what's the cause. some people are misdiagnose with those conditions and put on drugs. experimental drugs to be exact. there are some cases where people get better through combo of proper nutrition and toxic cleansing and bodywork as well as retraining nervous system. it seems to be a misfire of nerves due to confusion from past stress or past toxins trauma. I'm no expert and i'm no doctor but many who have the symptoms of these conditions in china have reverse them doing tai chi.
many have develop those symptoms from vaccine shots too. mercury poisoning because vaccines have mercury in them. And nowadays you don't know if the vaccine shots are what it suppose to be or not. I know there are many vaccines shots being a cover up for experimental drugs using young kids as guinea pigs. fda will do anything to make money even hurt people or force them to take shots by law. of course you know the media gets threaten if they report them. you see some that get into media on and off but not widespread as they censor it.
of course they were doing tai chi seriously for years couple hours a day before they notice major changes. tai chi helps reprogram the body back to normal. realign the spine and clean one's body. and you know it takes time for all that change to happen. thats why it takes months or several months before noticing the changes. some have faster results than others.
I highly recommend adding tai chi and chi kung to deal with the condition you have. not just these condition but any condition that is unexplained that is chronic. tai chi treats and heal so many illnesses that we know and not know.

Hi Lori;
I'm sorry to hear of your health problems, but am very encouraged to find someone with Fibromyalgia posting & working out.
My wife also is not a well person (Although you wouldn't really know it by looking at her) and also has this disorder, along with several others, two of which are high blood pressure & the beginnings of osteoporosis.
In fact, we are both, only in our early 40’s & we both already also have some serious health issues.
My problem doesn't really at the present time affect me much physically, but my wife because of her ailments spends a lot of down time & doesn’t get a whole lot of exercise (she knows she has to). I’ve tried to get her to do stuff like DVR’s but she says she can’t feel it working her muscles & gets frustrated. I told her to be patient & keep up with it. I'm afraid she don't…
She isn’t overweight, but is not a physically strong person.
What words of wisdom through your own personal experience might you be able to offer?
A beginning program you yourself might have used???
Thanks ahead for any replies;
WB

:)Thanks everyone for posting. I wanted to take time to answer all your questions and if I miss anything please let me know. First to sillypup I do the silk weaving exercises at the end of my work out and I think it does really help. You are right about past stress and traumas having alot to do with fibromyalgia, there is alot that is not known about fibromyalgia but I do know that all the symptoms that people have that are so similar that many people can't be wrong. Until you feel the way we have believe me it is real. Besides having fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome I have nerve damage in my face and back, tmj, and carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands.
John's program has helped my joints to not hurt as severe and to not be so stiff because of my joints swelling. It also helps by doing the hand exercises to keep my hands from swelling and feeling like they are asleep all the time. And another great benefit is the energy you will feel. I still have bad days but at least I am not bed ridden like I was before I started these exercises.
To wacky baby thank you for your nice post and I would love to let you know of some things that helped me at first. I was just like your wife I would get so frustrated because it felt like I was just bending my arms. I couldn't possibly be working any mucles this way until I watched a video by Greg Mangan called VRT. He was using a stick to lift to visualize lifting weights.I t finally clicked with me so what I did was tighten the muscles that I am working out like if I am doing a arm curl. Tighten my arm muscles and you breathe out as you lift your arm up and as you bring your arm down you inhale. I always try to imagine that I am holding something in my hand. Also when I first started out I did tigermoves and powerflexing and that really helped me. Please write any time and I hope your wife will also.
Thank you Kottie fo your nice post. Hope to talk with you soon. To Power Hank I do live near Greer and thank you for posting. Hope to hear from each of you soon.:)

Hi Lori,
It has been good to see you through a different lense so to speak! After fourteen years of marriage it is nice to know I still learn new things about your personality, which I find charming in a whole different way. One of the things I have learned about your posts is that I need to tailor your workouts more to what works for you instead of trying to dovetail it with what I am doing at the time.
Therefore, in the future you and I will be concentrating more on DVR, Powerflexing, and start incorporating the silk weaving exercises back into your routine.
Love and Respect,
Your husband Greg

I don't see much progress in the fibromyalgia and chronic fatique syndrome area in regards to western medicine. they are too busy marketing illness using drugs rather than finding cures or natural ways of how the body works. I don't claim to be expert in it but here are some ideas that worked for people that were diagnose with same problem.
some past cases that worked with people I've known in my holistic health studies with those symptoms often misdiagnose cuz doctor still don't know cause. they just treat symptom which don't go far in my opinion in terms of cure. similar symptoms but some work for others some didn't probably due to different cause. exercise and proper nutrition always key to natural healing in any health difficulties. some did hypnosis, some did visualization, some tai chi, some energy work, meditation. some did biofeedback/muscle testing and various bodywork to re-educate nerve muscle connection. many lack needed nutrition from those symptom taking a toll on body. possible most of the pain are from past trauma or confused nervous system misfiring from past trauma/stress. it's possible that it's conditioned reflex of trauma and somehow the program stayed that way with body response reinforcing wrong symptoms. similar to allergies when body function wrong. people have reverse allergies with proper nutrition and visualization or hypnosis to reprogram for body to response properly. their allergies were classical conditioning of pavlov bell theory of conditioning. only happen once when they were stress or trauma times to body. then it kept recurring.
I'm no doctor but those were my experiences I've come across with those that had those symptoms. nutrition and energy work (include physical exercise geared toward function rather than body sculpting) is probably one that have most effect in the person feeling better probably due to increase chi and energy to handle those body and mental stress that comes up. some activities work better than others. I suggest you try any natural healing exercise that interest you. explore. you never know if one of those activities might be the one to trigger and reset yourself back to normal health.
personal experience: My friends mom have same symptoms, they misdiagnose her with fibrylmayalgia, then chronic fatigue, then restless leg syndrome and god knows what fancy names they come up with. it's a cycle of drug experimentation. pain day in and day out in bed. drug side affects, etc... It was horrible. I took a look at her as friend know i'm holistic health practitioner specializing in energy and bodywork. I suggested she take natural supplements due to lack of proper nutrients from food. and get some exercise by walking and doing tai chi. she was a stubborn lady. as a last resort she then followed my suggestion after a yr or two of going to hospital and doctors in and out. don't know cause or how she got better but increasing proper nutrition and getting some fresh air and exercise slowly help her get better. part of it was the feng shui in her home. it didn't let her recover or heal. maybe it was lack of nutrition. who knows. all that matter was she got better. when she was in pain and agony it was horrible to be around. seeing someone suffer and doctor not helping don't do well with me when they were experimenting with their drugs. one of the thing that makes it worse for her is the negative thought she have due to having all those pain and side affects. it just cycles and don't help one heal. especially if it's chronic suffering. she's better now. at first i wanted to do muscle testing to ask her body or unconscious mind what's wrong to speed things up but language barrier didn't help. Just glad that she finally went with my suggestions of nutrition supplementation and exercise outdoor in the sun.
I'm glad your going the natural healing route. remember, i'm no doctor so these post are just real stories to stimulate ideas for you. people should understand that health lifestyle/treatment should always be personalize to the person not fit the person into the lifestyle/treatment. who else to know that than the person themselves, especially if they are active and aware of their health. listen to one's body. it tells a lot and give feedback on what works and what don't. just have to increase one's awareness of listening to one's body. above all else, the best factor in healing is one's participation to be active rather than passive. all and I mean all miracle cures that happen in the past had to do with the person's active mind to not give up hope and strive for health. doctors should give more prescription for lifestyle as medication to prevent many health surgeries and health complications rather than drug focus. probably won't happen anytime soon as they depend so much on people being ill and big pharma control over fda influence on wanting everyone to be chronically ill so they can sell drugs. best health care is always from oneself and not others.
that's why what john teaches here is great. it's an active participation in one's health care.

Hi Lori,
Thanks for posting your workouts. Given that you're rather shy by nature, I especially admire you for posting.
Seeing what others are doing helps motivate me. I'm happy that this site's programs help you.
Keep goin', girl!

Sillypup thanks for the great information, it makes alot of sense about the nervous system misfiring because of past traumas and stress. I am lucky to have a doctor that tries to research all he can on natural ways to treat his patients. He introduced me to the visualization therapy and how exercise and eating healthier would do you alot better than medicine because thier is no cure right now but living more healthy could reverse alot of the symptoms. I have had a lot of severe trauma physically and mentally and it would make alot of sense that my nervous system just stayed off balance because I never was able to get over a lot of these problems.
My doctor told me when I first seen him exactly what things I suffered with in my past and being american indian and german also was a genetic factor because their seems to be more people of both indian and german heritage that has this illness. He has researched it a lot so all the things you say are exactly what we need to do, to be able to live healtier lives. When I started John's exercises it was for the benefit of being able to function with less pain so I wouldn't be bedridden and the extra bonus was that I lost weight and becoming more toned and fit. Thank you again for all the great ideas and I hope to talk to you soon. HankZ thank you for posting it helps me also when I read everyones post or their workouts. I look forward to talking with ya'll very soon. Lori

Hi Lori,
How are you? I saw this on FOXnews.com and thought it might be of interest to you. It is a video called "New Fibromyalgia Treatment." I hope the link is still good. I tried to watch the video but my computer is not set-up for it (it is my work computer so I don't want to install any non-work related programs on it.) I do hope they come up with something in the near future that can help you.
Blessings to you and your family.
