A hero of mine from days of watching him with my Mom.
A lot was written about him and his affect on physical culture in the last forum.
Here is an old video of him doing his finger tip pushups.

Just awesome. Jack was decades ahead of the times...or maybe everybody else was just decades behind him. He's as relevant today as he was in the "black-and-white" days.
In another vid clip, he uses a cool expression CONTRACTUAL POWER.
Seems like he was referring to isometric contraction back then.

Definitely a role model for generations!

Isorez,
I remember watching Jack Lalanne with my mom. Sadly, she quit exercising after he went off the air. Jack exemplified the classic physique - developed neck, wide shoulders, narrow waist, muscular forearms, and runner's thighs. There was nothing bulky about him. It was all thoroughbred race horse development.

Greg;
As the video clips show, Jack LaLanne also had some great definition.
He trulys is a legend!

I have tried the fingertip push-ups the way Jack does and man they are brutal but fun to do, haven't gotten up to one-armed yet but wouldn't surprise me.
Jack was an Icon of his time and he still is a great man at his age now and a great inspiration for us all!
Look how he was in his younger years!!!

Hey Tom,
I have Mike's course "Chi Mind Control" and it was way ahead of it's time. But now John's "Isometric Power Revolution" book has taken its place. But either way there are both awesome books and are well worth their weight in gold. All the best.

Did he only do BW Exercises or did he also lift weights?

Nope, I have always had difficulty with one arm movements, have no problem with the two arm, fingertip variety though.

[QUOTE][Did he only do BW Exercises or did he also lift weights?/QUOTE]
Yes, he did both. He did a lot of weightlifting, too. He was the first to open up a 'gym', too, back in the '30's.
A few machines that are common place in gyms now are actually his creations, but he never did the patent follow up...the leg extension; cable machines....etc.
He is also the man that basically introduced America to not only yogurt, but fruit in yogurt. On his show he was a huge advocate on the health affects of yogurt and he also knew that plain yorgurt...well...just didn't taste good. On his show he would tell housewifes to put in fruit, blueberries, strawberries....and blend it together to make it taste better. Within 2 years, there were a couple of companies that started to market this. He had a standing offer (I can't remember the exact money figure though) but I believe it was very high. around $10,000 for anyone that could keep up with him in a workout and do exactly what he did. Never had to pay up.

As an aside, it's too bad that today's commercial flavored yogurt is a far cry from Jack's healthy creations

He was still at it at age 90! This photo was in Sports Illustrated a while back.
Nothing short of amazing.
