I saw a video of a guy doing inline push-ups off a bench. Instead of being up on his toes he had the tops of his feet resting on the bench, so his toes pointed back. I tried some of these and don't really see a difference, but wondered if any of you could see any advantages or disadvantages of performing them this way as opposed to being on one's toes.

Also, when on the toes do you guys "sit back" on your toes or is your weight more "forward" (hope that makes sense).

God bless,

Veg

Veg,My opinion is this, you would be setting yourself up for injury if you did them that way because your not in a position of power.Just because someone does something on video does not mean it's done correctly.Just my opinion-Kevin

Veg.........I had a friend who used to do pushups with me after
our morning run and we would use a picnic talble in my back yard.
I noticed one day that his feet were in the position you mentioned.
When I inquired about his foot placement, he replied that he had an
ankle problem and it felt better doing them that way.

In terms of the second part of your post.....I make an effort to place
my weight "forward", throwing it in my chest, arms and shoulders.
I have noticed that I "sit back" when I become fatigued and use this as
a cue to take a bit more rest between sets.

I tried the incline push ups on the tops of my feet and for me it places to much pressure on the lower back and my shoulders feel crunched it really hard to keep your back straigh tand my lower back really feels unstable and I would not do it personally that way for long. When you on you toes can shift your weight to emphasize different areas with the toes back you can not

I'm no expert, but comparing the two ways, it seems like the legs get a better workout when push-ups are done from the toes. Just my opinion. Having tried the other way now, I will continue to do feet-elevated push-ups from the toes.

Hi Veg

I have done these pushups quite a few times in the past, and i have always done them on my toes, never with my insteps.

I think that it would cause a lot of people problems with their ankles.

All the best.
