Has anyone ever used something called a 'Power Tower'? There are a few available from sporting goods stores but the one I'm referring to was on the market about 15 or so years ago. It was black tubular steel, about 1.5 or 2 inches in diameter. It had pushup handles that curved up from the base. Midway up were dipping handles and at the top was a chinning bar. There were no back pads as somee of the models now have. It lookes pretty sleek and I kick myself for not getting one way back when. It might have beeen called a 'Power Stand' and I think a company called DP or Excel put it out.
The models available today just don't have the same look.

Was it the Tunturi TS100?

Mine looks like that one. Lot of years, lot of use. I sawed the pull-up bar so there is no downward angle - personal preference and easier to move.

I just purchased one of Craig's list for $25 with the back pad. I've been a bit under the weather and I look forward to training on it.

The original power tower was a neat design. Your own bodyweight pushed out the base and provided the support. The drawbacks were the height and the inability to adjust the dip width. Still, I wish I still had the one I bought back in the early nineties.

Viking Dan;

That's exactly what i was describing! I like the design over newer models that look more like they belong in a gym. Anyone know where these are available?

Thanks for the photo.

The Towers are more useful if you bolt 'em into the floor or into plywood; they are tip proof & can serve as an anchor for homemade "gymnastic rings". Also, a secured Tower is an excellent isometric "platform"

WOW that sure beats a bar screwed into the door frame!

I purchased one about 11 years ago. It was the same model pictured above except in white manufactured under the Gold's Gym name. I never bothered to attach the push handles on the bottom though.

I still use it for pull ups, chins and dips on the occasions when I work out in my basement. I usually work out in my garage now where I have a power rack from my weightlifting days that I use for the same movements plus isos.

A bolted down Tower replaces a wall for the Hollyweed pushups - like wise for bridges. In both cases, you get extended ROM
