View Full Version : Blaming the external

I ran across this image on a humor website and when I first saw it I thought it was pretty funny. Then I got to thinking, I wonder how many people blame external forces for health problems, not realizing or just ignoring the fact, that their own bad habits are the real problem?

Take a look at the picture and read the text, might take a minute of study to see what I'm talking about. Hint: Look in the mother's hand... :dazed:

I know it's shocking isn't it.

I always se pregnant women walking through town with a cag in their hands. I personally know around 3-4 girls who smoked throught their pregnancies. It makes me sick thinking about it really.

Fair enough not having respect for yourself, but when it's another life you're danaging (especially an unborn baby) then I think they should get fined on the spot for it or something.

She is worried about the sound of the jackhammers on her unborn child? What a joke.
It is probably only disturbing her television watching while she is puffing away (and probably knocking down some twinkies).
How long a day do those construction workers put in? But you can bet that long after they've gone home she is lighting up another cigarette.
She is probably the first to complain when resturants prohibitted smoking in them.

Sorry for venting, but I feel sorry for the baby inside that is being forced to endure the pollution its mother is forcing on it.

That is very true, but it doesn't only apply to health. Pepple refuse ot take control of their lives in all areas [financial, business, personal ,etc] and never really develop the potential powers that lie dormant within them to influence all kinds of external factors that affect their lives.

Often genetics are tabbed as the blame

I thought it was standard advice from all Doctor's that an expectant mother should not smoke during pregnancy. God bless her baby and let's hope it is not damaged by the smoking.

It is the easy way to blame others instead of taking personal responsebillity.

I have this co-worker who is alway's late or do's not show up and then when he arrives his excuse is ; its beyond my control i did not hear my alarm and i worked out last night so my body is hurting and and and!!LOL

People tend to look only at the short term pleasures (like the woman in the picture)but not at the long term results!!

30-40 years ago, they might have been excused, but with all we know now about the effects of smoking, this should be classified as child abuse.

This caused me to have this similarly related thought: others get involved in the external, when there is no particular reason to do so. I suppose that is why there are soaps.

I'm working on it.
