Hi everyone, I was wondering as Adam mentioned in this post about vo2 max, push-ups and squats, if deep breathing is done between reps of pull-ups, would that also help in increasing ones quest for improved vo2 max? And also just wondering, how many sets should be done to help increase ones vo2max on push-ups and squats, thanks to all for your help.

Accurate measuring of VO2 would provide objective feedback. Does anyone have a practical/affortable way of measuring V)2?

Hi Grunt,

Dr. Leonard Schwartz in one of his earliest books, no longer in print, had a method that was pretty good. It involved doing one of his heavyhand exercises (I can't remember which one) at a certain rate for a certain number of seconds with a specific weight, I think 2 pounds. He had a formula that also factored in your weight. I seem to no longer have the book. You might be able to find it somewhere. There might be something on Clarence Bass's web site.

Regards,

Alan

Dr Len was( is?) a VO2 whiz. While moving all 4 limbs, he was able to rival Nodric Skiers( the highest recorded VO2 types). His VO2 levels even exceeded elete runners.
