Ever notice how regular exercise helps you to think better?
My wife knows an acquaintance who is troubled by regular, mild bouts of depression. She is also overweight, and is often tired and bored, listless and inactive, and sometimes has a short fuse. She often has the blahs, a general feeling of pessimism. And of course, she never exercises. Need I say more?
I recalled a few brief encounters with this mental outlook a long time ago, long before my exercise days, but can honestly say I have not experienced this state of mind in many years.
Getting your heart going, getting winded, working up a light sweat, and of course, looking better and better in the mirror (a natural advantage of regular exercise) makes me a peppy and energetic person, never one to get bored or depressed. It also tends to make my attention span better and lift my powers of concentration. Anyone else notice this?
