I've got Miracle 7, Isometric Power Revolution, and Pushing Yourself.
Miracle 7 was a great start for me. I actually do the exercises while walking and find it very enjoyable.

I'm a bit disappointed with the other two books, because they didn't really talk about how to build a workout routine. The history is interesting, but not needed. The exercises are great, but they are broken out into body part groups.

What I was really hoping for was getting more ideas for routines, that cover the whole body. So on Monday, I do x, y, and z. And Tuesday I do a, b, and c.

Everybody I looked at on this board seems very advanced to myself. I looked at the routines that you all have, and many are just ahead of where I'm at. I would be really appreciative if someone could provide me with examples of workout routines that can be done in 45-60 minutes a day that take care of the whole body.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Paul,

The thing with IPR & PYTP is that it wants you to do a routine that you yourself can create. You have the sets/reps schemes kinda so its up to you to come up with something tha suits you and what your needs are. What type of routine you looking for like weight loss, muscle mass increase, physique proportions? These are the things you should look at. This might help instead of being confused about what you want to do. So take me for example, i'm 5'10 225 pounds so i'm not necessarily a small guy so I do certain workouts to help me stay big but not fat but to keep a big frame with flexibilty and stamina. With this you may get an understanding of what it takes to stay big on these methods. Diet is also important, what do you eat to help maintain your strength, stamina and physique? So look at the books again, what exercises do you see yourself doing, what do you look for to maintain and gain strength and such? Use your imagination. Also breath deeply when you workout this gives a great feeling of calmness and internal strength. So I would advise to read the books again, try them out and see how you want to devlop your figure. Its hard to do at first believe me but find what works for you. If our workouts ar too advanced for you start out slow and listen to your body.

hi Paul
Just read your thread, sorry if this seems a bit of a delay.
The way i break up my workouts are around three workouts, an example is below:
Day One: chest, back.
Day Two : thighs, calves, abs.
Day Three: shoulders, neck.

If you notice that i do not do any specific arm workout, i feel that they recieve enough from other upper body exercises.
I have not given you specific exercises for this workout, i take my exercises from the power calinethics part of PYTP.it really depends on the ones that you like. If you need exercises just let me know and i will send you a new thread regarding them.
The question of rest is up to the individual, sometimes i will train for two days and then have a day or twos rest, or one days rest after a day or twos workout. It depends on how i feel the next day.

I have just written a thread on this part of the forum about a autumn workout that i have been doing this past week.

Hope this helps, any problems let me know.

Take care for now.

KEITH JAMES.

Benny and Keith,
Thank you so much for your help. I am a salesman, frequently on the road, gyms are hit and miss. Sometimes I just prefer to work out myself.

Miracle 7 has been the glue that keeps it all together for me. It's the difference between living and dying on the road. Just telling you this, so you get the perspective on how valuable your help is to me.

Because of my schedule, I sometimes get less time on some days rather than others. Today was a good day, I had about an hour and had a great workout. Yesterday, I was doing Atlas pushups during conference calls :)

I just sent my engineer, who travels with me, a copy of Miracle Seven.

Have a great one, and I'll be sure to check out your workouts.

Want a great workout. Stick wtih the basics.

John Peterson's top 2 recommended exercises are the Tiger Stretch Pushup, and the Tiger Bend Squat. He has also written on the Trinity exercises. Probably his interpretation of the RoyalCourt Routine which he picked up from Matt Furey:Hindu Pushups, Hindu Squats, and a back bridge which he terms the Furey Bridge: named, of course, after Matt Furey.

The Tiger Stretch Pushup, like no other exercise, works the whole body. The Tiger Bend Squat does wonders for the legs, the largest muscle goup in the body. And the Back Bridge is great for freeing up the nerve pathways of the spine: it gets the energy going. You can't go wrong concentrating on those three.

Personally, I either alternate sets of squats and pushups or do 1 large set of pushups and one large set of squats. If you're just starting out, breaking down the sets into smaller manageable groups gives you a great workout. Look up the Tabata protocol on Google and apply that to these two exercises. And then finish it off with a bridge. Just a suggestion. But that's what I do.

But above all. Keep at it and keep on keeping on.

Hey Paul im new to this forum but i can tell you that most of my workout is in the morning burning those excess calories. If you want to get a total body workout why dont you try swimming. its been proven that swimming not only burns fat and calories but also works all critical muscles to increase mass.

I f you're looking for a great book to get a total workout without the cardio check this out.
I have used it and really cant go anywhere without doing these routines.

Hi Lightstorm,

I went to that site, and with all due respect, I found it to be hard-sell and gimmicky. When I attempted to exit from the site, I got three or four pop-ups urging me not to go until I signed up for their "free" newsletter and reconsidered giving them my credit card number for learning the "secret" of "turbulence training."

To tell you the truth, that kind of hard-sell pitch rings all kinds of alarms and strains credulity.

I bet I can get whatever information of value that book has by just browsing this site, using a bit of common sense, and experimenting with the advice one can get from our many well-informed forum members to find my own best way.

Regards,

Alan

Yuk, I'm pretty sure that's a spammer or troll come to muck up the site. I would recommend not visiting the site as I have 2 different popup blockers installed, but that site kept creeping through. Recommendation, stay away.

As for constructing a workout, I'm a huge fan of the power cals. I came to my own construction over time, but I would also recommend at least getting in tiger squats and tiger pushups. Remember it's not necessarily high reps you're after at first, work on form. It'll go a lot further in your development.

I agree, omad0n.

There are no secrets to weight loss or physical fitness, and anybody who tells you there is and wants your money in exchange is a charlatan, in my opinion.

The basics are well known and all over the web.

For my money, JP's books and this forum are a source of a lot of good information, and as I always say, use common sense and don't be in a hurry. There is no fast and effortless way to fitness and weight loss.

Regards,

Alan
