Greg, Do you recommend supersets in VRT. I have been doing them since last week leaving a gap of 48 hours and so far they seem okay. I have been using the 16 exercises from your VRT book. JamesH

JamesH,

My apologies for missing your post! I mistakenly overlooked it by not scrutinizing new threads close enough.

Yes, I love supersets, and for the brief period that I lifted weights (when I was 15 and 16, some 41 and 42 years ago), I found them to thoroughly pump the specific areas I was working on. A so-called Joe Weider development. And yes, I do use them when performing VRT, such as the bicep curl and the tricep press as supersets. I also do the squat and leg bicep curl too as a superset, and the bench press and bent-over rowing as a superset too.

My favourite way of way of supersetting is between the same bodypart.Something like VRT pre-exhaustion supersets.

They are fine. I don't like to do them when I'm working for power, but they nicely increase a muscle's vascularity and build a fair amount of strength.

But for building maximum strength, you need a different strategy.
