Hey guys, I want to propose to you the Transformers Challenge! Earlier this year I had a friendly competition with a friend and it really help with my motivation. I think having an open competition here on the forum will really help people out and be a lot of fun!
So here’s what I propose, you guys let me know what you think…
Starting June 22nd contestants start on a 60 day body transformation contest. The winner will be the one with “the best transformation.” Now who’s going to decided that?? Well, what we’ll do is post before and after pictures and open up a poll here on the forum, voting is anonymous so no one will have to worry about hurting anyone’s feelings.
Whoever wants in the competition has to post a before picture by Jun 22nd. If you want your anonymity by cropping or blur your head out or anything like that but don’t know how to do it, you can send me the pics and I can do that for you (e-mail cybersmythjj@yahoo.com). Competitors also have to post their workout in the Daily Training forum. This will do two things: keep you accountable and make it so everyone will be able to see the winner’s exact routine!
Then what’s the grand prize? Eehhh… sorry but all you get is bragging rights, and a better body. But that alone should be worth the price of admission :)
So who’s interested in the Transformers Challenge?

I would love to participate. I was just thinking that posting my progress would be a really great motivation to train more consistently. That has always been my biggest problem.:wilt:
Perhaps the winner should be the one with the most dramatic transformation.
As far as prizes go.... Maybe a free transformetrics T-Shirt. I seem to remember something like that. I wonder what happened to them. Or an autographed copy of Isometric Power Revolution. That has got to be my favorite Peterson book so far. I don't yet have any that have been published after that one...YET.:cat:
Or a free bottle of Chisel... I'm sure you get the idea...:glasses-cool:
Oh. by the way would it be alright if the participants were to use methods beyond those included in the Transformetrics system? I ask because I also like to use resistance bands, and do weighted pull-ups, chins, and dips. Well, actually for now I just do negatives with the weight. I would not mind forgoing those tools if the group felt that would be unfair.:pirate:
Any way, this is just the jumpstart I needed to start posting more regularly. Great idea Joe!

You can use all of the resistance you want! For it to be unfair, i'd mean that the resistance had some kind of advantage, which it don't
I'm gonna win anyhow, so just keep that in mind.

A friendly competition sounds good but I am way behind all of you guys. I would be embarrased for you to see my 'Before' pictures.
If the compettiion becomes an annual event I will enter next year when I will be closer to my goals.
John
Dear John,
Please don't feel embarrased. No one here is going to laugh at you or make you feel inferior. The whole point of this forum is so we can support and be supported by each other in reaching our fitness/health goals. It doesn't matter if you see yourself as a toothpick or a bowling ball. it doesn't matter if you're a highschool kid, a retiree, an office worker, a construction laborer, a CEO, a firefighter, or a stay-at-home-mom (or dad for that matter). we're all different. We have different pasts, presents, and futures. We have different experiences, different histories. I don't come close to being able to do what some (probably many) of the members on this forum can do. I may not exactly have the body that I want right now. But we all have the body that we've earned. So don't compare your before photo to the other before photos that you will see. The only thing that should matter to you is how your before photo will compare with your after photo. The same is true for me and that is why I am going to enter this "challenge" regardless if anyone else does at all. Its a challenge between me, myself, and I.

I just ran across this, and I would say that I love the idea. I think a little healthy competition helps spur on improvements all around, and garner interest. While I know this might not be a competition challenge that Mr. Peterson would want to endorse at this time, I think it would be cool in the future to have little Transformetric hosted competitions. Be it for a free book, or some of the NutriPrima stuff heck even a set of the warrior t's or the power belts. Heck have a competition focused on the T's as a way of promoting the benefits they bring. Just my 2 cents.

I'm in, Joe. I've let my inability to do push-ups and even aerobic pull-ups drag down my motivation.
I'm also "behind most people here". On the bright side, that should make it easier for me to show progress!

I'm in too. I'll be e-mailing my photos to Joe on around friday.:embarrassed:
I'm thinking about starting a blog for my workouts. I guess the easiest way would be to just put them here on the Progress forum. Does anyone else on this forum blog some where else. I think I remember someone from here had the "mind-body-connection-blog". I wonder why it is no longer active.
Anyone got any advice one way or another?

Count me in boys, but forget this friendly competition stuff! I want an all out war! Anger against the inferior competition fuels me! I say that will all love and respect for my fellow forum members but come Monday, I am trash talkin'! Plus what got me motivated is when I mentioned there was a contest to the family, my wife popped off before I could explain about the contest and said, "Oh, let's hope that it is not a clean eating one because you have already lost!" This is the same woman who writes nice stuff about me all of the time. She and my girls have really taken to the diet John outlines. I cheat some, okay, more than some. So I am getting serious about the diet and I am in this competition! Not only me but my whole family. I hope that it is okay if the women compete but if not, I am cutting them! Jake also called from the states and when we told him about it he wanted in. Here is the list:
Aaron
Stacy (my wife)
Jake
Caleb
Ben
Katie
Jon
Emily
Joey
Vivy
Possibly my son Josh will also want to be included. Since John Peterson has become a part of my family all of our family has taken to his workouts and Big Jim's.

All past and future insults are to play with your mind and you quit and I win. Personally I have nothing against any of you as I love and respect you guys and gals. Just joking, I won't be too insulting. You know how us old Texans are. We have a messed up sense of humor. Just ask Max!

A coincidence? I think not! Right after Joe posted the response that he had won and I didn't even know it yet I received a knock at my door. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was our elderly missionary lady whom my boys and I have been helping her and her husband move into a house down the road. My wife and girls have been cooking some meals for them because water and electricity have been off a lot lately. As she stood there, she was going to hand my children two boxes full of 6 dozen homemade cookies, 3 dozen chocolate chip and 3 dozen cinnamon. She said that she just wanted to say thank you for all that you have done for us. Before the words had completely left her lips I saw what was going down. At the top of my voice I yelled, "Curse you Justice" ran across the room and drop kicked her out the front door! As I looked up all I could see was a rain of cookies and granny panties as she flew off of our porch. Naw, just kidding about the drop kick. We accepted the cookies and said thanks. Man chocolate chips are like $8 a bag here so it was a great gift. The kids were all excited, I was all excited until I looked at my wife and I could see in her eyes the question, "how clean are you going to eat?" Wish I could drop kick her! Well the kids said that they are the best cookies that they have ever had except for their mom's of course but they are trying to tempt me. Come to think of it, I don't know who Mrs. Betty's grandkids are (the lady that we are helping) I am not trying to be paranoid but I think that someone is trying to set me up!

I haven't been around the Forum in a while, but I am reading this out of order. I saw a more recent post of Aaron calling Joe a "gravy sucking pig". Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but that visual had me laughing pretty hard. I am not in this competition, but I will add to Aaron's comment here. I am the type of competitor that is talking trash, win or lose. Aaron is absolutely right, we Texans have a messed up sense of humor. Take it to 'em Aaron!
