Here are a few pics of me for the contest. I don't know if I was supposed to pose, so I didn't.
I'm pretty motivated. I was in great shape a year ago, but I hurt my back in Afghanistan a year ago and have been unable to work out since then.

Ooops, I just saw that my attachments didn't post. I thought they said they did when I posted the original message. What do I have to do to fix it?

Dan,
You need to click "Manage Attachments" and a little pop-up box will let you select a file, then you have to click upload. If you can't figure it out, just e-mail me the pics and I'll attach them for you.

BomberDan,
When you reply to your thread use the "Go Advanced" button. You should then be able to find the attachment button.
good luck.

Aha! The files were too large and I had to change them. They should pop up now.
20 years in US Airborne/Special Operations, retired as a Sergeant Major; continued for 5 more years as a contractor (albeit with a gun - similar to Blackwater in a way). 600 parachute jumps and numerous deployments.
I enjoyed almost every minute of it and wish I could do it all over again!

Good luck on the contest Bomber. You've got a good start already. I don't know what routine you're contemplating, but you've got a good template to build on for 100's of Atlas pushups and Atlas situps with some of the classic Dynamic Tension DSR's.

Greg, thanks for the encouragement. At the moment I cannot do any pushups, dips, pullups, etc. My bac is really bad off and there might be a third back surgery for me. I really hurt it pretty well in Afghanistan.
But, on the good side, I have been doing DVR's since 18 June. I can only do my upper body because of the pain. But since then, I have seen what I think is a TREMENDOUS difference in muscle tone and relative size. Every time I work out in front of my mirror, I can hardly believe it. I am really excited to see how I look in a month.
By the end of the workout my muscles are so bulging and well shaped I keep thinkin, "Man, why wasn't I doing this 20 years ago?"

Dan,
That is great news about the DVR's working for you. I was pretty limited at first as well. My back, knees, and hip were shot. I don't know the exent of the back injury, but John is sold on the benefits of decompressing the spine with hanging by the hands from a high bar, and I believe he is correct.

I believe John's technique probably could help me if that were the problem. But the doctors think that the problem is that scar tissue has built up inside the levels where the fusin was performed, which means that it is screwed together and locked in place - you can't manipulate it. When I carried a 300 pound man on a stretcher in Afghanistan, they think that the effort was so extreme as to nudge the scar tissue into a nerve.
