We haven't had the ubiquitous music thread for a while, one of those off forum topic standards. I'll do the damages. I just got two CDs from Amazon of Devil Makes Three.

Here are the rules (to be ignored at will): Let's not do the huge, huge names, the billion-sellers, nightly news, Hollywood, paparazzi ones. Stick to the small, future huge, oddish, indie, or even local bands. Names and links, please, or just names.

If you are going to cut and paste links, I suggest writing on a separate word processing window. I lost two posts clicking back and forth too fast. :bomb:

I'll start, thank you very much.

See, it happened already. I never heard of Wainwright. Here is a hilarious song where he goes after an airline employee for breaking his guitar:

I saw Prine in town a couple of months ago, and Waits not too long ago. Kristofferson is an old favorite.

My 2 local bands are Archer & Cylinder. Both are rhythm and heavy metal. So far 2 of the best bands around in my hometown and so far Archer has played in Europe w/ big indie and major bands such as Iced Earth, Hammerfall and the major bands, Black Sabbath (W/ Dio), Judas Priest and Mastodon. I know you haven't heard of most of these bands but if you put a guitar in their hands its gonna be going nuts. They recently traveled w/ whom music magazines consider one of the greatest guitarist in this generation Zakk Wylde w/ his band Black Label Society. I have posted about Archer in my early posts of Brozebow.

For those who may not know the Drummer for Archer Tyler Brammlet was one of my first influences in getting back literally on my feet after my accident and helped train me to get into better shape and now is a close friend of mine and lives not too far from me. He is by far pound for pound one of the strongest and fittest men I know and packs in a lot of energy on the drums w/ great charisma, stamina and power.

Thanks. Devil Makes Three is out of Santa Cruz, too. Must be a hotbed of music. I like the Catylist.

Right now, I´m listening to Paul Weller - 22 Dreams, looking forward to in a few weeks when Jethro Tull play the castle gardens in our small town.

Hey Brothers and Sisters,

For those of you into fingerpicking acoustic blues guitar, here's my own arrangement of St Louis Blues (http://tinyurl.com/m47vpt).

In addition to the featured acoustic guitar, there is also an electric guitar improvisation in there, some pan pipes, and whistling.

Anyone wanting further information can PM me.

Regards,

Nice fingerpicking, Alan. Sometimes I think that if there were just one instrument to play, it would be fingerpick guitar. I went to see a local picker, Steve McLane http://www.myspace.com/stevemclane, play and the phrase occurred to me, "band in a hand." It's all you need.

Then again, piano has the added advantage of never having to carry your instrument with you. But that could be frustrating when backpacking.

Grunt, I love Janis Joplin. Thanks for the Teresa Russell introduction.

Ben, I got grow my hair long so I can wave it around like those Archer dudes. High energy stuff.

Task, Wrinkle Neck Mules, what a name. Youtubing them also got me to Sons Of Bill, and Crow somethingorother. I like the recent trend of taking old music and putting it to young punk - like Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy, etc. I remember Pirates of The Mississippi did that with an old Monroe tune, Walk Softly. It's my favorite version.

Thanks for the clip. Now I need to lose more weight so I can wear those huggy jeans and a wide belt.

Michael, I like BB. When Jackie opened for him, BB talked to him and told him to wear a sweater, to take care of himself. BB is class. You can't entertain when you're sick.
