I've been running now for a couple of months, gradually building up to 3 miles, 3 days a week. My legs are still getting very crampy when I run, particularly my shins, even though I've been doing it for awhile. Is there any kind of warm-up routine I can do to help alleviate this? Or will it eventuality subside as I continue to run?

Joe,
Check your shoes, if they are worn at all you might have problems. Running shoes are only good for about 300-400 miles. I have my runners walk on their heels everyday before they run. Some do toe taps, where you tap your foot up and down, when I do this I feel it burn a bit. Run on a soft surface sometimes helps too.

I had a runner a few years ago who had sore shins and he went to a PT and the guy had him do tons of lunges, and one leg squats. They are where you put one leg on a bench and then the other leg out in front of you like a lunge then go up and down. Hope this makes sense. Anyway this cured his problem. I believe a lot of injuries are do to an imbalance somewhere else.

Just trying to help,

Monty

I would like trying a softer surface. As it is, I run on the road outside my house. There's no trails or tracks near my house :sidefrown: I'd love to find a good running trail, away from all of the traffic and construction sounds!!!
