Is anyone going to make preperations for 2012? I know folks that are planning, and will store food, water, water filters and defensive items. Freeze dried food, MREs, Berkey waterfilters, flour, grain, oil, salt, water barrels, are just part of the topics I've seen discussed.

My feeling is to use the stuff from 2000.

Then there was 1998, the harmonic convergence, '84, and those various religious ones during the last century.

I hadn't even heard 2012 was significant. I'm not going out of my way, I tend to not place to much merit on pre-determined dates for doom, etc. One should always be somewhat prepared for an extended emergency which could happen really at any time.

I have a Mormon friends, they store food and water, flour, grains, have a mill, oil and water stored for one year. Some keep a shotgun, .22 rifle and pistol, a .357 magnum carbine and matching pistol. I think the worst is the US is becoming the newest Mexico. I like Mexico but don't want to see the USA slide into 2nd or 3rd World status.

mts I agree we should all be ready just in case and the Government recommends that.

Whats significant about 2012?

I am not sure, but I'll take a stab at it.

That's the next presidential election year. Are we anticipating some calamity in response to the outcome?
