Hi Larry,

Just got back home from your Arizona seminar, and hope you made it back to Alaska safe. You put on an excellent 2 day seminar that totally proved to me SSS works. If I had any doubts when I arrived, you quickly dispelled them when I jammed you up against the wall with a knife pressed firmly against your neck and all 240 lbs. of my weight leaning against you, and you took that knife away from me so easily it was ridiculous. I really believed at least one time I could cut you with that knife, but time and time again over the two days showed me I didn't stand a chance, no matter how hard I tried.

I'm not into travelling around the country, spending my money, and "allowing" some guy to just take a knife or gun away from me to make him look good. So from the very first time you called me up to demonstrate, I didn't hesitate to do everything I could to stab, slice or pull the trigger on you. But no matter how hard I tried to concentrate on making the cut or shot by increasing my reaction time, I couldn't do it, and neither could anyone else in the seminar.

Of course you are going to always have sceptics Larry. What you see on your dvd's looks too simple to work. But I found out that's the beauty of SSS-simplicity. Instead of looking for all these dramatic, multi-technique, strength and power self-defense and weapon disarms, you have worked for years making it as simple and relaxed as possible. I probably annoyed you after a while asking so many questions, but I wanted to understand how and why your concepts work and you were only too kind to answer them for me.

I've been involved with martial arts for over 30 yrs and you have to show me your stuff works before I'm going to believe you because I've seen too many techniques that are a joke and will get you killed in the street. So I want to thank you Larry for indulging me and allowing me to shove you across the floor with a knife to your neck, try every angle of attack I could think of, try pulling the trigger on a gun with you 10 feet away, choking you from the front and rear, and trying to ground pound you,all in an attempt to put SSS to the test. Got to admit Mr. Wick, it works, and it's real!

For all you skeptics out there, all I can tell you is that I really tried to put Mr. Wick's SSS to the test because we have to be skeptical with all the garbage that is out there. I just wish everyone had the same opportunity I did in spending two days with Mr. Wick showing us SSS and seeing first hand that what he has worked so long and hard at does work. I probably had either a knife or gun held to Mr. Wick over 50 times in the two days, and each and every time I concentrated harder and harder trying to get a cut or a shot off, only to find I just couldn't do it.

Thanks Mr. Wick for imparting so much useful and effective information to all of us at the seminar. I know we all had a great time and you gave us a lot to work on.

Stan

Hi Stan,

Thank you so very much for the kind words. I am honored and happy that you enjoyed the seminar and possibly took home some life saving techniques that you can practice. I just finished teaching the RES-PECT program and went through a facility to help with their safety reccomendations for staff and clients.
I am concerned and saddend by the fact that I do not believe I will be able to fully present the programs that I have spent thousands of hours creating to help make lives better for so many. I know that there are so many diffeent wonderful types of self-defense programs out there, but in creating SSS I had to step outside the box. There is only a very, very, small handful of people out there that have been taught these skills and sadly most of them will never be instructors because of their peorsonal lives. I am worried that what has been created will die, and never be brought to the public because there will be no one to do so. To be the creator of various programs and concepts is a very, very, lonely place to be. I have no one to ask questions to, I must analize, test, and put in to use the situations the concepts of each program. Be it SSS,
Bodiy Logic, or RES-PECT. I know that what I have learned will change the lives of so many. The handicapped, the old, and those with physical limitations the Body Logic Program could serve so many. The RES-Pect program will change the ways violence is handled in all programs, such as school, youth facilities, and nursing homes. And finally the SSS concepts, If I could only let all of those on this excellent forum to expierence just five minutes of what it is like, I know that their lives would change in the way they look as self-defense, caring for the elderly, and their loved ones. I hope that I can find the strength and time to find a few dedicated people that may carry these programs on. Stan, thankyou so very much for your time and energy in flying such a far distance to meet and train with me. Be safe, your very tired friend, Larry

Hi Larry,

What are the underlying concepts behind the RES-PECT program? Also, do you have a DVD on these concepts out?

Thanks,

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the question. There are many concepts of the SSS program that have to be felt and experienced personally to understand how they work, but there are other mindsets that can be easily explained. When I train people I train everyone as I would train a professional in this field dealing with possible violence. Never engage a attacker unless abosolutly neccessary, your only goal is to escape with as little attention as possible doing as little damage to the attacker as possible. You do not want to have to cut, shoot, break, or damage someone as it will bring the attention of police, lawers, with a potential of heavy financial cost. A professinal takes verbal abuse, because they have nothing to prove, and when ever possible escapes, I teach the simple concepts technques of the Res-pect program to avoid the possiblity of ever having to deal with multiple attackers and possible weapons. In saying this there are times when you have to use various levels of force to escape.no damage, light damage, medium damage, and extreme serious injury. However in doing any type of physicla attack there must be the condsideration of only one thing, do enough damage to escape, by escape I mean have the time for an evacuation of an area to contact police and other agencies. The level of injury must coincide to the threat. In training you must always have the mindset that there are always weapons and multiple attackers that are seen or not. You response is to never focus on the attacker as they are not hte true problem, your most dangerous situation is the things that you do not see, they will be the things that can possibly take your live.

In SSS we have a few concepts that are a must for those that wish to increase the chance of survival.
Always move forward, and behind your attacker to use them as a shield, never step backward as you do not know what is behind you. In moving forward and behind your vision cover 360 degrees. Never stop moving, never fight strength against strength. That causes you to focus on your attacker which is not your concern, in your mind your mind you have him right where you want him. Never focus on a weapon, Never punch, kick, attempt joint locks or throws, and never go to the ground, again the reason is you are focusing on the wrong thing. your attacker, in SSS we use only three techniques, and neck distruction whem a shielding situation, thats it. We use simple weapons, a pen, comb, whatevrer we can get ours hands on. We do not fight ,we escape and survive knowing that even in doing this there may be heavy legal ramificactions in the actions that are needed to do so.You see so many movies where to guys square off in thie exciting knife fight senario. They are both dancing around, the crowd is yelling, in reality there should only be two things happening, one there should be very, very, few reasons to be in a knife fight. ITHe only one I can really think of is to protect family and loved ones or someone that may need you to save their life, otherwise forget it. If it is for you so called street honor, and not to give up you money, car, forget it , your life is much more important. Be a professnal that gets to go home to there family without costing thousands of dollars and jail time. You cut sone one you are in trouble. To have a knife fight you need to have to poeple with knives and you have to be able toget them out at the same time to prevent from being cut. If I ever find myself in that situation trust me, I would be finding a way out and I would be running like heck to find safety, I know that if I dance around trying to engage this guy, he possiblly is setting me up with his gang bangers buddies that have knives or a gun, and it is over vor me.

I could go on for hours, I hope you go to our website and it answers some of your questions, but keep this thought in mind, never have the mindset that you are going to FIGHT someone. That is for the ring, or some fight over a girl with your old drinking buddy. A street situation is with the mind of escape, knowing that you and your loved ones live could be taken at any time with a gun or knife and that there are multiples making it inpossible for you if you decide to engage and not escape. Remember when violence hits, you oly die once. To all be safe, and I really hope to meet you some day Greg,

your friend, Larry

Hi Larry,

Don't worry. I liked everything you said in your post. I worked in police work for many years and currently train young people for the law enforcement profession. I'll check out your websites this afternoon. I am looking forward to your response on RE-SPECT. I talked with John Peterson yesterday and he told me about your cocept of "body logic."

Thanks,

Hi Greg,

First of all I want to thank you for the work that you do in training others. It is impoosble to know of all the lives that you have effected in a postive way because of those that you have trained.

RES-PECT stands for Restraint Elimination System - Practical Effective Control Techniques.

It is broken in to two parts that blend perfectly together. THe first is an emphasis on verbal skills that are used to calm, redirect, sooth, pacify a situation that may become violent. The second is the Physical skills USED WHEN ABSOLUTELY neccessary that blend with the verbal skill that cause no pain to the client or staff. These skills were again created through the use of Body Logic. I have spoken about this program alot. It has taken so much of my life to create and understand it. In fact without understanding Body Logic, the SSS program as well as the RES-PECT program could not be created. RES-PECT techniques are totally unique as they require very little strength and speed as they dirupt the mind not the body. These concepts can be used very effectively in nursing homes when the staff is grabbed or choked by a client that has lost there mental capabilities, that would never hurt a soul in the past, but are now frightened, confused, as disease destroys the mind. It is used for the Autistic to prevent triggers of violence and the release of violent outburst and possible physical harm to family members and agencies and schools that work with these types of cases. It is currently being used in youth facilities to prevent injury to both staff and client. It can be very effective in Detox centers where violent outbursts can happen at any time as the client stuggles to heal there physical and mental wounds.

I never new the difficuties that professinals have in working in so many different types of facilties. The injuries, the violence, in some cases the lack of verbal skills. In working together woth Monttie Ford and our excellent creating, writing, and training staff, we have truly created a program the world has never seen but desperately needs. John's company will be publishing the training books in the next couple of weeks and I am excited to see what they come up with.

The physical techniques are a very, very, basic level to the SSS series. If you are trained in SSS it will take you a very short time to learn the RES-PECT skills. There are 17 basic concepts that you will learn to be certified as RES-PECT trained. Notice I say cocepts not technques as these concepts will fit in almost any type of situation. Front, rear chkes, heads locks, hair, hand, cross hand, finger grab, lapel ect.

In the future we WILL be needing trainers. To be a RES-PECT trainer you must and most importantly be a professional. A man or women that speaks well, is energetic, a willingness to be responsible for themselves and the company. If all goes as predicted it will be a very good paying job as you will be in charge of your own destiny.

I hope that this helps answer your question and as always be safe,

your friend Larry

Hi All,

Grant it is great to hear from you. I am glad all is well. The gang here in Fairbanks is working on alot of different projects. John"s company will begin working on editing and creating our new Res-pect training book this week. I am very excited about that. I have been working on alot of SSS projects that will be taking our company to a whole new level. I will be putting Body Logic in to a program that will be used for fire fighters and will be presenting this program with the Res-pect program on Tuesday, and finally I will be in California teaching a Res-pect on SSS class thats after I do a black belt test in Wassila, Alaska. Other than that I have not been doing much.

Stan if you are out there, let me know how your training is going. To all be safe and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Your friend, Larry
