Took a break from the ISOs today and decided to do some push ups. Now im not like some of you guys who can do 50-100 push ups a set. I decided to do wall push ups and had a blast! I did 500 push ups and eventho they were wall push ups it just felt really good. I was thinking about doing these till i could get up to 100 a set. These really seem to hit the back muscles pretty well but i could just be imagining it lol. Anyway had a blast doing it.

When I talked to Tom Manfre, Atlas' star pupil and friend, several years ago he said that wall pushups were a favorite of Charles Atlas and he was constantly doing them. It is hard to find endurance builders for the upper body and this has to be an answer.

Tony you found what the guys call the Hollyweed Protocol and the guys that can do 100 pushups in a set and some that do 500 to 1000 pushups a day use the Hollyweed Protocol. That is one of the tricks they use to get to do 100 PU's per set and hundreds of PU per day. The Hollyweed Protocol is simply as you discovered GTG "greasing the groove" using wall pushups, door pushups and countertop pushups. Doing hundred's per day becomes easy and build's you up fast. Welcome aboard Tony.

As an aside, there are several ways to perform wall push moves with varying degrees of difficulty -eg place your hands over your head as you press(adjust the angle of your body with respect to the wall) - place your feet on the wall( again, adjust the angle) - HSPUs with the wall as a spotter

Whether performing a wall pushup or anyother movement you can increase the tension by using your mind and creating internal force the same as with DVR/VRT.

Oh yeah the pump was amazing and the burn was just so good. I have to say it was one of the best workouts ive ever had. I like to do my mine to failure. I know a lot of guys arent into that but its the way i like to exercise. I did 5 sets of 100. I was thinking about doing the five sets of 100, then getting down on the floor and doing one "heavy" set. Or maybe doing one ISO set to build up the raw strength. With push ups the option are just so limitless. So many ways to make them easier so many ways to make them harder. And you can do them ISO style. And like i mentioned for some reason when im doing the PUs against wall either high rep or ISO style it really seems to hit my back muscles.
