Hey John, I know you have told us in the past that peanut butter can help us gain weight and add muscle without adding any fat. I know that you told me that your uncles would eat up to 6oz of peanut butter a day.
But could you give us more details on how we should add this to our existing diets. Should we replace it with food we normally eat, or should we add it to our current diets.
Thanks again

Seek out a retailer that has a grinder on site so you can make your own nut butters without any nasty additives. Alternatively, just eat the nuts( yeah, I know peanuts are legumes & not nuts). It's hard to beat peanuts/peanut butter for taste but I believe most gurus suggest almonds & walnuts as much better health choices.

Ah, peanut butter. I love the taste, but I think I became allergic to it over the years. Not in a deathly, eat a peanut and go into anaphylaxis way, but it's made me feel pretty sick a couple of times, once with some awful vomiting, sorry for the too-much-information...
If it works for you, go for it, I think it is an excellent choice for those who tolerate it well. I'd go Almond Butter all the time if I could afford it, but at 6 bucks and up for a jar of non-organic, and anywhere from 10 to 20 for organic, it's not something I eat as a staple, that's for sure!

Hey gs300tx,
John and I just got done talking about this thread. What is interesting about it is that I have had John tell me time and time again about peanut butter. He said it was one of the best foods for building lean muscle mass while not gaining any fat. Well I decided to try it and sure enough it worked like a dream. Not only did I see pretty good gains in muscle mass while eating this but also lost TWO INCHES from my waist!! I couldn't believe it. But anyway to answer your question I would not make this the "staple" of your diet but instead just add it to what your current diet is. Also don't just try to eat a whole lot of peanut butter in one sitting but spread it through out the day. Anyway I hope this answers all of your questions and All the best my friend.

Just made a banana peanut butter smoothie. One banana, a cup of milk, some ice, a couple of tbsp. of peanut butter and a little honey. Blend until smooth. I enjoy this after a good workout.

Wow, two inches from the waist is amazing. If you dont mind me asking, how many ounces of PB were you consuming in a day. Right now I try to get around 3oz a day.

To be honest gs300tx I never measured it. I just ate it through out the day.

Peanut butter and bananas are my favorite breakfast "on the go".
I like walnuts or almonds with yogurt for breakfast as well and find the protein in nuts very helpful for me to kick start my day.
My son made a Sambian dish which was good. He diced up potatoes, yams, and chicken and cooked it like a soup with about 1/3 cup of ground peanuts. The peanuts give it a great smell and flavor. He then spooned it over cooked cornmeal. After sampling that dish I have added ground peanuts or peanut butter to chicken soup and or cooked carrots and YUM!! :eat:
