Dear John and all Respectable Members…
My name is Johnny and I’m 31 years old…I Live in Lebanon…during my teen years I was physically very active, playing Soccer and Taekwondo…when I started my undergraduate studies and throughout my postgraduate degree I gained lots of weight due to the wrong lifestyle…I ate the wrong food, always skipped breakfast and consumed lots of junk food…I never dieted, but joined a gym for a couple of times, I quit each time due to the huge inconvenience, lack of time and lack of interest with the exercises I was doing….my aim was to be fit, strong and healthy, but I wasn’t interested in becoming the next incredible hulk!
Recently I became very uncomfortable with the way I looked and had no energy, and losing weight became a major concern as well as changing my lifestyle…I did lots of research and finally decided to follow the Mayo Clinic Healthy weight Pyramid, because I wanted sustainable results…my father joined in (61 years of age) for mutual support and we collectively lost 27 pounds in two months…each of us lost 13.25 pounds (6 kilos) without any physical activity…I currently weigh 216 pounds and my father weighs 202 pounds, we are both 5 foot 7…we have no chronic illness such as heart problems, diabetes or blood pressure.
Then I started to research ways to keep the weight off and to tone my body through exercise and physical activity outside the gym because I had no time because of my work, I am an equity trader and am nailed in front of the computer around 12 hours a day…I used Amazon to search for fitness books, and I stumbled on JOHN PETERSON’s books by chance…I read every review and visited the website and read all the book reviews, but what gave me the answer that I was looking for was a review on Amazon by Greg Newton.
“If you think the champion bodybuilders of the sixties and seventies were drug free and that the ideal place to workout is your neighborhood fitness factory, this book is not for you. If you are a die hard iron head, who has yet to suffer from the "busted up weightlifter syndrome," this book is not for you. If you are looking for another exercise trend to follow without putting some grit and effort into what you are doing, this book is not for you.
If you're interested in health, strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and the physique of a Greek statue, this book is for you. If you are interested in physical culture history, this book is for you. If you have had debilitating injuries from weight training and want to turn back the clock, this book is for you.
A year and a half later, I weigh less, look more like a bodybuilder than when I lifted weights, am more flexible, am more coordinated, am faster, have more endurance, and am much stronger. Does that mean I can lift more weights in the gym? I don't know and don't care. What it does mean is that I am stronger in the areas of life that really count, like walking (or running) up a steep incline without getting winded, being able to manhandle a heavy piece of furniture, or hoisting a load onto my shoulder to carry it.”
I ordered the following books from Bronze Bow Publishing, and they were shipped today:
• Pushing Yourself to Power (Spiral Edition)
• Isometric Power Revolution (Spiral Edition)
• The Miracle Seven (Spiral Edition)
• G.U.T.S.—The Ultimate 24/7 Body Sculpting Training System (Spiral Edition)
I was wondering if anyone can help me with what to start reading first and if these books/exercises are suitable for my father as well…I wanted to get a heads up through the forum before my books arrived…
I AM VERY EXCITED!!!
Thank you all for reading, I welcome and thank anyone who’s willing to help me and give me advice.
All the best,
Johnny.
