All the cool kids were doing it, so I figured I had to give it a shot.
I knew there was no way I could hit the # in the time allotted, so I went for the numbers with as little rest as possible.
I hit the target reps for everything except the Squats. After 150, I just was smoked and sweating buckets.
With that in mind, the whole routine took me 76 minutes. :shame:
For those who are as OCD with math and numbers as I am, here's the excruciating details. (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=twNEzgxH1fhOrJYhzxO4csA&single=true&gid=0&output=html)
Judging by my times, I think my new starting point would probably be:
Atlas III - 20 reps
Atlas Sit Ups - 40 reps
Tiger Bend Squats - 150 reps
Atlas Sit Ups - 40 reps
Atlas III - 20 reps
Milo is fine as it is
I think I could do the above in the time allotted and build from there.
I did better with the Squats then I thought which is surprising since I haven't done them in a few weeks.
BTW, putting the Milo at the end is absolutely brilliant on John's part.
I had a vague plan to do chin ups later in the day, but I think that would make keeping my lunch down impossible.

Its the day after and I feel like I've been sucker punched by Popeye. Also walking is somewhat of a challenge.
I think Wednesday I'll try GUTS again with some more realistic numbers. In the meantime, I'll stick to push ups and chins.

When I went back to Tiger Bend Squats, after a long layoff, it took me a solid week before I could walk right!! Even now, I can't do 200+ every day.

Considering I hadn't done them in nearly a month, I don't think 150 is so bad. The front of my thighs beg to differ though. ;)

Yeah, those are some respectable numbers! I was curious how long it would take me to get in 300, so I did that last night; just shy of 20 minutes.
I do mine in sets of 20 with a short break between each set. The first 100 or so in this fashion is pretty easy and I tend to want to do more than 20 in one set, but by the time I'm in the 200's, 20 is looking pretty freakin' tough! :rotfl:

I know the feeling Viking Dan I busted my butt the 1st day out and then went to work . What a bad move that was !

I basically do them on the minute until I feel myself slowing down noticably. No sense going for broke when there's a timer running.
2 days later and my abs and thighs are still screaming. Maybe I'll wait til Thursday to try GUTS again...

OK. I couldn't wait til Thursday. This time I just did as many as I (thought) I could in the time given.
Atlas III - 20 reps
Atlas Sit Ups - 30 reps
Tiger Bend Squats - 166 reps
Atlas Sit Ups - 30 reps
Atlas III - 17 reps
Milo - 20/15
Push Ups need much work. Sit Ups I think I could have rested less than I did. Squats were on the verge of challenging.

This should have happened yesterday, but sometimes insomnia rears its ugly head and I'm just no good for anything for the day...
GUTS 11-14-09
Atlas III - 20 reps (13, 5, 2)
Atlas Sit Ups - 35 reps (3x10,5)
Tiger Bend Squats - 180 reps (12x15)
Atlas Sit Ups - 36 reps (3x12)
Atlas III - 20 reps (10,2x5)
Milo 35 reps
My numbers are getting better apart from the push ups. I *know* I could do more in 1 minute. Its just challenging to figure out how to manage your time when you only have 60 seconds. If I go for broke, I'll probably be spent for the whole minute.

Tiger Bend Squats-190
Atlas Situps-40

Everything improved except the last set of pushups(timewise at least, they were worse.) My sit ups went over a bit and I didn't get into position fast enough and basically couldn't get into a groove on them.

This really should have happened Tuesday, but life intrudes. I may just double up on the weekend to compensate.

Pretend I wrote something really witty here instead of linking to a spreadsheet filled with tedious numbers. (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=t75vPz9Xho99eEFyx3APUOQ&single=true&gid=0&output=html)
Pushups are a near-impossible(for me) time management challenge (for me.) If I only gun for 25, it still only leaves me 10 seconds for a breather in the middle of it. I can hit 21 pretty consistently on the first round, but maybe I'm better off just grinding them out for the whole minute.
Situps were a bit better on the first round.
Squats were the same, but I finished them a little faster.
I don't think I can handle doing GUTS daily (yet) but I do intend to practice as many Atlas 3s as I can squeeze into a minute each day. I think with practice, I can get a consistent 25 at least.

Didn't do GUTS today. I do some kind of workout everyday, just not GUTS. I've been playing with Tabata a little bit this week, since its a kissing cousin to what you have to pull off in GUTS.
For those who don't know, Tabata is 20 seconds of maximum effort followed by 10 seconds of rest---done 8 times in succession!
For most of the upper body work, I couldn't make it past 4 rounds. Once I'm only getting singles off its probably a good idea to stop.
Chin ups - 9 6 3 1
Atlas III - 11 8 3 4
Atlas Sit Ups - 9 9 8 8
Dips - 7 5 3 3
Atlas Sit Ups - 9 8 7 7 5 4 6 5 (this went all 8 rounds.)
Liederman Push Ups - 13 10 6 5 1
Furey Squats - 15 15 14 13 11 11 11 12 (102 in 4 minutes, more or less the pace I'd have to maintain for GUTS over 12 minutes)
More Liederman push ups, Atlas Sit Ups and pull ups at a relaxed pace.
Tomorrow I'll take another stab at GUTS. I love GUTS, but I'm just nowhere near able to do it justice(yet.)

Somehow I got confused and thought the squats ended at the 15 minute mark, not 16, So I should have been able to crack 210 on these. :frown: Oh well. Tomorrow is another day.
Pushups are giving me no end of frustration.
