Good evening, friends.

My name is Robert Ellis. I've been "ghosting" this forum for a couple years, reading quite a lot, but never really taking part. Whenever I read the encouraging posts on here, I get motivated and jump back into excercising for a time--maybe a couple of weeks--then get "busy" or discouraged.

Well, it's time for that to change. The voice in my head said, "It's time to step up to the plate, son." I have read, and re-read PYTP time and again. Recently my brother handed me his brand new copy of G.U.T.S., which I executed last night--more on that later. So I have gotten back into excercising, and plan to participate in this forum on a regular basis. I need the encouragement to keep me from quitting.

First off, a little bit about me. I am a very strong Christian and Jesus Christ is my savior. I live in Alaska, where it is about 0˚ Fahrenheit with 6” of snow. I play the violin and piano, love good literature, guns and my paint mare, and forge knives and things as a hobby when I can find time away from college and work.

I’m 18, 5’10” and have weighed about 138 pounds for the last couple of years. Extra fat is not a problem for me, but lack of muscle is. I max out at about 35 pushups, 20 Atlas sit-ups and 70 Tiger Bend Squats(which I performs somewhat flat-footed so my knees don’t pop). I had worked up to about 300 pushups-per-day this spring, in sets of 25.

Anyway, last night I got started on GUTS and realised that this is it. No more putting it off. I’m not going to quit again, and I need you guys to hold me to that. I did the GUTS variation with the military push-ups instead of the Atlas III. Here’s what my workout looked like:
Warm-Up
1. Military Push-Ups – 15 Reps
2. Atlas Sit-Ups – 10 Reps
3. Military Push-Ups – 15 Reps
4. TBS – 55 Reps
5. Military Push-Ups
6. Atlas Sit-Ups – 10 Reps
7. Military Push-Ups – 15 Reps
8. The Milo – 7 Reps each arm
This all took me about 6-8 min. I’m somewhat ashamed to say that I’m sore today, but hey, we’ve got to start somewhere, right?

I’m happy to be here and look forward to knowing you guys and having you as friends. You’re an inspiration.

God bless,

Robert

You are absolutely right. You have to start where you are at, but with consistant and persistant effort, the changes come. By the way, keep me apprised of your progress. 6-8 minutes is about right for someone to start G.U.T.S. In six to eight weeks time, I am curious as to where you'll be. If you are consistant, I'd say you'll be up to twelve minutes and your repetitions will have increased by at least a third, if not more. Keep me posted and good luck,

Greg Newton

Thank you all for your kind posts. Great to talk to you, John. You've been a role model since I first read PYTP.
