VRT gives us the strength for self-defence, but in our modern society we are not always allowed to use arms. People, men and women face gangs and muggers. I wanted to supply the forum users with the tools to use the Savate cane, or any handy device can be used. Savate cane is simple, fast, effective and arose out of European Saber Military Fencing. Here are a list of recourses available.

A short free booklet on the use of the Savate cane method. http://canne.tritonis.hu/booklet_en.pdf

Here is a free download of "The Walking Stick Method of Self Defence by H.G. Lang" for the French cane http://www.lulu.com/product/download/the-walking-stick-method-of-self-defence-by-hg-lang/850224

Here are three article on the Savate Cane originally in Pearson's Magazine 1901

Mike, my whole-hearted thanks for this info, which combined with VRT, can be a great defensive regimen. I studied Savate briefly as a teen-ager, and find this information great for self-defense. A walking stick or cane can go a long way for self-protection, even against a gun-wielding mugger.

Greg I was lucky enough to study Savate and it's Italian version, much harder to find today, Ithere are only a few places that teach it now. The old ethnic communities and the Boxing Gym's were where it was available in NY.

VRT gives the users the strength and speed. Most people forget that about VRT just like other forms of Isometrics it enhances speed I think. Weight Lifting slows you down and hurts the joints while VRT speeds you up and cures the joints and other problems. It seems to me all Isometrics have a curative power and VRT does to.

Speed, power and a simple self defence art like the cane can really protect people and make them safe. VRT goes hand in hand with the cane art.

Sorry Dan I must have copied the same link twice by mistake.

Here is a video Roger LaFond method of canne, baton and french boxing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKDkBlKEY1g&feature=related and her is a young lady using the cane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARA_35xYET4&feature=related showing you a female with strength like VRT gives can use a cane.

PS Here is a video you like on the modern canne de combat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOs2YMA0zRU&NR=1
