Three years ago I trained a team of three students to compete in a statewide crime scene contest. My girls blew the other teams away by their professional appearance and their teamwork. But, when it came time to take their written test, they over-analyzed the answers, read more into the questions than what was there, and got questions wrong that they knew the answers to. Because of this, they missed the Gold medal and a trip to compete at Nationals in Kansas City.

In the same spirit, it is very easy to over-analyze your training. How many reps, how many sets, should I do DSR’s or DVR’s, are the weights better for strength, etc. In the second year of my Transformetric training I started studying the training of Woody Strode and Hershel Walker. Both kept their training simple: for Strode it was pushup, sit-up and squat; for Walker it was pushup, sit-up and sprint. Neither spent a lot of time analyzing their workouts other than to do MORE.

The light dawned on me that I needed to keep it simple and hone in on what I was doing. Put that mental energy into focusing your workout and then forget about workouts until the next one.

With the G.U.T.S. routine, you have a flawless exercise program that is simple, direct, and effective for all seven aspects of fitness. Some of you have worried about what to do after reaching the elite level of G.U.T.S. Others have wondered what other exercises to do with G.U.T.S. My answer is – get to the elite level of G.U.T.S. first. You’ll know what to do after that. BUT, you’ll also be a fitter, more muscular and stronger person as well.

Look at Woody Strode and Hershel Walker again. They just did it.

Hey Guys,

What Greg has stated is brilliant in it's simplicity. And it is so true. I've known men that have had every piece of equipment imaginable that haven't trained at all and remained fat and out of shape. I even knew one guy that didn't train because he said he didn't know what warm-up to use first. Can you imagine anything more stupid?

Bottom line, Greg could not be more correct. G.U.T.S. is so straight forward and easy to comprehend in it's simplicity that it is fool proof for all that are willing to apply themselves. G.U.T.S. takes away all excuses for everyone not to be in superior shape 24/7 except for the men that do not trust themselves and always think that somebody else has a secret training routine that they have not yet found. Such a training routine does not exist.

And to my critic that says that I have ripped of Woody Strode, "Bull Roar". G.U.T.S. incorporates the same exercises Woody Strode practiced and that is why I incorporated them with certain modifications. Nobody has sung Woody Strode's praises more than I have. For someone to say that I have ripped him off just shows how stupid and pathetic they really are in trying to find something to whine and bitch about.

"Just Do It" is the answer to a lot of things in life. One of W.Clement Stone's favorite motivators was "do it now" which expresses the same thought. Don't be like the fat lady with her extensive collection of diet books.

This post is an answer to my prayers.

Thank you man!

And to my critic that says that I have ripped of Woody Strode...

John,

You've done more to keep Woody Strode's legacy to film and to physical culture alive than any other person I know. That is probably the same guy who said they knew a person who wants to remain anonymous, and this person knew some of Woody's family and they said Woody trained with weights at Vince's gym in North Hlollywood.

That was some cutting edge reporting LOL. Not that it makes a difference, because it doesn't to smug, rumor mongering, word splitting, psuedo sophisticats who have never trained a day in their life, but Woody in his own bio told exactly how he trained and it was pushup, sit-up and deep knee bend.

And Johnny,

I am glad my review helped. You are in the right place. John and I, as well as many others here, practice what we preach and the results are obvious. You won't see photoshopped or steroid bloated physiques, and this is not about crash courses or diets. But you will see real men and women who are into the fitness quest for the long haul and who have made drastic changes in their health, physique, and strength with consistant and dedicated effort over time.

I couldn’t agree more with the sentiments being expressed in this post. To wait until you think you have the answer to everything before trying something is usually an excuse to do nothing. As Franklin D. Roosevelt once said:
“It is common sense to take a method and try it; if it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all try something.”
What I am trying very hard at the moment and really enjoying is GUTS. I am just about to start my 8th week and I actually am beginning to smile whilst doing the squats!!
Have a good Christmas everyone

Great post!

If you want any results you gotta get busy. I know a couple of guys that have been researching which workout program that they want to go with and have done nothing. You can't just sit there and look at it you have to get involved.

Barry, you and I are at the same point. I think that we have had it about 6-7 weeks (G.U.T.S.). Not only have we lost some weight but we have put on some muscle too. What has impressed me the most is how much our endurance has increased. Yesterday we had a contest to see who could do the most Atlas I pushups at a fairly slow speed. Ben did 40, Caleb did 50 and I finished with 45. You look at those numbers and you say that it isn't super great but we just finished doing a set of squats. Ben did 340, Caleb did 420 and I did 320.

So quit trying to figure it out and just do it!

The only way to get results is....

Getting to work! Nothing is easy but the rewards are great

if you put the time and effort into what you're doing.

I don't care what the critics say,and I certainly would not want them behind me

if I went into a battlefield.
