Hey Friends,
I just saw one of the most incredible and well produced documentaries I have ever seen. Don't miss it guys. It's title is "Facing Ali". It featured, some of the boxing greats from the 60's and 70's including Joe Frazier, Earnie Shavers, George Chuvalo, Sir Henry Cooper, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Leon Spinks, Ernie Terrell, Ron Lyle, and Larry Holmes.
Whether you like or condone boxing is not the point. This documentary offers insights into the hearts and souls of each of these men as well as into the heart and soul of Muhammed Ali. Every man, no exceptions, admired and respected the great Ali. Even Joe Frazier.
There are insights into the training of these men. Ron Lyle stated that he performed 1,000 Push-Ups daily and get this, Lyle did not turn pro until after he was released from prison at age 30. George Foreman was a joy to watch and he shared his personal story of a literal death experience that he had and how Jesus Christ saved him. Of all of the men featured, I was blown away by the candor of George Chuvalo. Chuvalo is one incredible and extremely likable man. Unlike several of the other men featured, Chuvalo is as sharp as sharp can be and is in awesome shape. Literally unbelievable. Unfortunately, his personal tragedies in losing his sons to drugs and his wife to suicide after his second son died of an overdose just tore at me and brought me to tears. Bottom line: I was really touched by George Chuvalo.
