Hey Friends,

I just saw one of the most incredible and well produced documentaries I have ever seen. Don't miss it guys. It's title is "Facing Ali". It featured, some of the boxing greats from the 60's and 70's including Joe Frazier, Earnie Shavers, George Chuvalo, Sir Henry Cooper, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Leon Spinks, Ernie Terrell, Ron Lyle, and Larry Holmes.

Whether you like or condone boxing is not the point. This documentary offers insights into the hearts and souls of each of these men as well as into the heart and soul of Muhammed Ali. Every man, no exceptions, admired and respected the great Ali. Even Joe Frazier.

There are insights into the training of these men. Ron Lyle stated that he performed 1,000 Push-Ups daily and get this, Lyle did not turn pro until after he was released from prison at age 30. George Foreman was a joy to watch and he shared his personal story of a literal death experience that he had and how Jesus Christ saved him. Of all of the men featured, I was blown away by the candor of George Chuvalo. Chuvalo is one incredible and extremely likable man. Unlike several of the other men featured, Chuvalo is as sharp as sharp can be and is in awesome shape. Literally unbelievable. Unfortunately, his personal tragedies in losing his sons to drugs and his wife to suicide after his second son died of an overdose just tore at me and brought me to tears. Bottom line: I was really touched by George Chuvalo.

Ali was a great boxer and one man that truly was just as good as his press. Sounds like a great film and worth seeing.

Ali was a great champion, but he tried to stay too long. Toward the end of his career he fell under the treatment of a doctor that said he had a thyroid problem and that was the cause of his weight gain. The doctor put him on medication and those that went into his room at times saw he was taking 25 or 30 pills daily. "Muhammad And Larry" is a great documentary that has been shown on ESPN several times -most recently right before the Rose Bowl Game. I am sure that they will show it again. It deals with events leading up too and the actual Ali/Holmes fight. His story reminds me of Elvis. The two trailers linked below are from parts of the documentary..
