This type of exercise [ I include isometrics along with DVR/VRT and Isometric Power Flexing] not only develops tremendous physical strength, but it also develops NERVE FORCE which gives you control over your mind and emotions as well. Even Bob Hoffman, the father of world weightlifting,
said, " Isometrics build NERVE FORCE and build mental as well as physical strength." Bob Hoffman should know as his father was a Swoboda Student and according to Hoffman had one of the best builds that he had ever seen. The Swoboda Course were the first exercises practiced by Bob Hoffman himself. This stuff is phenominal.

Nathan, It is so great to see someone of your age has discovered this method of training. It will benefit all areas of your life as long as you live and make your life much more enjoyable and much more fulfilling. Many of us have picked up these principles in pieces over time and have benefitted from them, but now thanks to John Peterson they have been developed into a totally modern and updated training system that can be understood by and benefit people of all ages and life circumstnces. In the last few days we have again seen the weakness of a few pathetic individuals who are unable to understand or apply these principles in their lives so they try to make fun of them. They do this at their own peril and loss of increased vitality in and enjoyment of their lives. Life was meant to be lived positively and proactively and this is the key.

I'm with Nathan here and a lot of people will agree that this is the best training system for pain-free health and strength. I don't where i'd be without this system. I started this system when I began walking again and still do them to this day. It really does develop your personality, your emotional well-being and creates the physique and strength you've always dreamed of. Now there isn't the perfect system but when you have so many methods into one system that makes all your training that much simpler and much more gratifying.

Swoboda did not write a book on NERVE FORCE, but he was the first person that I have found who used the term "NERVE FORCE" in his course,

Mr Osiris,

How nice of you to say hello. And of course your request has been granted. However, as a Doctor of Naturopathy I'd like to point out that I do not advocate that any forum member drink Kool Aid due to it's extremely high sugar content(and of course the artificially sweetened variety that is sweetened with carcinogenic chemicals is even worse). Most of my friends here drink natural juices, spring water, organic milk, organic wines or organic beer such as 'Foret'. To find 'Kool Aid' you'll need to go to someone else's forum. If you need any help in finding an appropriate one where you would be right at home I'm sure that some of my friends here could point you in the improper direction. Best wishes and have a nice life.

Yes they are both talking about the same thing. "Nerve force" is simply the western demystified name for what is called Chi, Ki or prana in the martial arts and Yoga. Well recognized western instructors that I am familiar with including John McSweeney, Mike Dayton, Harry Wong, and Bruce Lee among others all used tensing exercises to develop the same power called by different names.

In the book "Yoga And Health" the authors describe slo-motion exercises which are VRT/DVR in the following way,"We use our imaginations to send vital force to various parts of the body, persistently developing strength, and if we watch our muscles during the exercise or watch them on a mirror , we will soon build a body so beautiful that even athletes will admire it...all we need is a .mirror and fifteen minutes a day. With the system of slow motion exercise, which prescribes no stultifying gymnastics but consists of movements like a game, combined with strong mental concentration, powerful muscles are developed in a very short time."

Whatever you call them they represent a powerful force for developing the mind and the body. Personally I prefer the definition given by Dr Paul Bragg who defined "Nerve Force" as "The vital force of life, a mysterious force that flows from the nervous system to give life and energy to every vital organ."

I definitely would recommend Paul Bragg's book.

One Wheel, Chi and Ki usually refer to developing this power for the martial arts. Prana refers to using the same power to develop the internal bodily controls that yogis are so famous for. Swoboda used the same power to develop our abilites to not only develop physical strength, but also to develop our internal inuitive and creative powers to help us adapt and evolve to handle the changes and challenges that we all face in life. Every human being has these potential powers lying dormant within them.

Hey Andy62,

"Every human being has these potential powers lying dormant within them."

Truer words have never been written or spoken. And oddly enough that statement is true even for the fools that deny it is there and as a result self sabotage their own best possible future that they might have had. Can you think of anything more sad or pathetic?

No,but infortunately we come across people like that thoughout life who lack the courage to leave their safe, secure, and predictable worlds and environments and have the courage to try something new that has the poential to improve on their miserable lot in life.

OneWheel, John Peterson trying to get the rights to republish the Swoboda Course, but my understanding is that he has not been able to find a full copy of the course. Swoboda's courses were personalized and different for different individuals as far as I can tell. I have a copy of one of Swoboda's courses and I can assure you that the exercise and training principles of the Swoboda Course "Conscious Evolution" are included in John's books. The Sandow site gives good infoimation on Swoboda and his principles

OneWheel, If you take the goal setting and mind control principles in the first chapter of "Isometric Power Revolution" and combine them with DVR/VRT, Isometrics or Isometric Power Flexing you've got it.

The reason that transformetrics is superior to other training systems is that it builds you from the inside out. It puts your conscious mind or will in control of autonomic functions that are normally controlled by the subconscious mind. This extends the control of your will into all parts of your life. In Yoga and Health it says," The purpose of yoga is to make our human consciousness dependent upon our will. Consciousness includes all segments of your body, mind, and spirit and extends into every facit of your existence. One of the first things people begin to see when they start the practice of DVR/VRT is that they begin to have less negative emotional resistance to the influence of their will in a variety of life activities. This is demystified yoga without the hocus pocus.

AF1, I have nothing against yoga and its various branches. I do believe that it is very intimidating to many people, however, with its formal structures and traditions. Transformetics brings the princples of yoga to many of us who are not interested in going through yoga's various traditions and just want to apply the principles to improving our lives. Dr Herbert Benson of the Harvard Medical School extracted the principles from Transendental Meditation and simplified them in his book " The Relaxation Response." Bruce Lee took the principles of the martial arts and popularized them by removing their secret tradiions. It is just making the knowledge of these practices available to more people without the cultural biases and in this case expanding them worldwide using the internet for the benefit of many people. Christianity is in a constant state of change as various groups interpret and apply it's principles to their various cultures and circumstances.

slausson 22, Welcome, it is great to have you here. This is a great site that features the principles for building truely effecive strength that we can use in all activities of our lives- not just limited physical strength to perform a certain function. The timing is perfect because these are the resources that we all need to navigate the turbulent waters of the current world situation.

"The more circumstances that are against you the more manifest becomes your inner power."
