John’s Isometric Powerbelt is extremely versatile. But, one of the problems with doing isometric contractions is that it doesn’t necessarily pump blood into the muscles, which is helpful for those who wish to build some size. One of the things I’ve discovered in using the Power Belt is that if I use more than one breath, and keep the muscles under constant tension, I can work up to a maximum contraction on the last exhale. Normally I do three. With approximately 5-7 seconds each on the inhale and exhale, you have the muscles under tension for 30 seconds or more. This allows time for blood to stay in the muscles.

Secondly, you can vary angles. In the picture below I am using only one foot to anchor the belt. By doing this I can change the angle of the pull, bringing my elbows forward, and I can get a stronger contraction on the biceps.

Thirdly, you can utilize the belt for DSR type movements. Also pictured below is a triceps extension movement done with the belt. By using the belt to do DSR’s you amplify the effects of Dynamic Self Resistance and can create stronger contractions with the muscles.

The last picture says TRANSFORMETRICS BUILT. I might not have the best physique on the planet, but like my buddy Joe Justice, I’m 100% Transformetrics all the way, whether it be G.U.T.S., the Tee’s, the Power Belt, DSR’s or DVR’s. Over the past four years I worked out like John recommends and I experimented to see what worked best for me. I try to eat fairly healthy, but I don’t go overboard. What few supplements I use are for health and my joints. At 49 the best is yet to come and it has been steady progress ever since I started.

Greg, Great post with some great information and insights. Transformetrics is the ultimate training system as within it are principles for strengthening mind, body or emotions for any event and at any stage or circumstance of life. At age 71 developing size is not one of my goals, but developing NERVE FORCE to continue to enjoy life at this stage is. During my rambunctious youth I sustained all types of injuries from sports and other activities yet today I have no problems with sore joints or muscles which I attribute largely to this type of exercise.

Nice progress as usual, Greg. I just noticed something. Looking at the face, you and Joe could be related. That should be taken as a complement, and you two can fight over who should feel more complemented than the other.

Hey Tom,

Actually, Joe looks like some of my cousins. We both have a strain of Cherokee in our genetic mix so that might explain the facial similarities.

I think we're both Celtic-Germanic-Native American. My gradfather's mother was Cherokee and there's apparently a lot of Mingo in my bloodline as my family is all from Mingo County, West Virginia (If you've ever seen the movie Matewan, then you've seen Mingo County) As far as I can tell we're both from hill country too. Just poor, 'ol, county boys :)

Actually, it's funny if you look at the Facebook page and see the avatars of John, me and Greg, we all have very similar looks. I could see something thinking we were all family.

Greg, what strikes me most about your pics was that one when you were younger, I think around my age, and how skinny you were then to now. This was when you were lifting weights, now it's all Transformetrics and you're arms, shoulders and chest are much bigger.

Good stuff with the Iso belt. Anyone looking at it on-line might wonder if it's worthwhile, but once you work with it for a little while, you get it.

Greg nice information; I like the belt! Use to use the 1960's model Isometric Exerciser, always like Isometrics.

Don't see a resemblence, but you guys both have a happy smile that says; "This works great and I feel so good". Transformetrics works and you and Joe are getting better and better, not more and more busted up.

Greg My Friend,

You are looking awesome. At age 49 you look a decade and a half younger and you have a physique that the vast majority of 19 year olds would give their eye teeth to have. It's incredible to realize how you have healed your body so completely these last three years.

John,

I was thinking about this the other day. In 2003 I went to the range to qualify with my service weapon. Normally I had always shot expert. Due to my knees, back, and my grip suffering, my shot groupings were nowhere near as tight as they used to be. I also missed a few. That scared me. This along with many other things was telling me I was aging fast.

I had always been tough and strong, and it was frightening that I was becoming so limited in my physical abilities. Things I'd done in the past with the weights to get into shape were NOT working. I got so used to joint pain I began changing my body movements to work around it. My flexibility was shot and it was also frightening that I could step on my right foot and suddenly not feel anything in my hip.

To say I am thankful would be an understatement. That is why I am not too proud to say that I am your student and give you credit.

For the last month or so the Power Belt has been the basis of my workouts. I still do pushups, but not in the large number that I did,but I can drop down and give you 50 at anytime.

I do 10 to 15 minute workouts with the Power Belt 5 to 7 days a week using 80% to 100% tension depending how I feel. I purchased the Red and Blue Belts and they do add an element of interest and variety to my workouts.

The Power Belt is the ultimate workout system in my opinion. It will not only build your body, but your intuitive and mental abilities as well. It will build those qualities that we all will need in the rapidly changing and sometimes rough and ruthless world that we will all be facing in the coming years. Change causes stress and the next few years will include mountains of change in all sectors of our lives.

Hey Greg,
I didn't try the movement that your doing with the Power Belt that targets the triceps but isn't it similar to the Milo?

Excellent thread Greg, your workouts have always been a goal that I wanted to achieve.

Hi Ahmed,

The triceps pushdown with the belt is different from the Milo in that the main force is pulling the belt down against reistance which works the triceps. With the Milo, which is a fantastic exercise, you are curling the arm up against resistance. Although, you could do the Milo where you had resistance both ways.

Thanks Jan!:smile-big: You made my morning. Let's just say I am John Peterson motivated and inspired. Every once in awhile I like to re-read the story in PYTP about the man at the resort telling a soon to be 50 year old John Peterson "Just wait until your forty - you won't keep that stomach so flat."
