I find that it is more beneficial for me to perform a smaller version of GUTs in the morning as I have less time.However it does kick start my day. I tend to do the following;

25 Push ups( feet raised using perfect push up)

25 atlas sit ups

25 hindu push ups

50-100 sqts

25 hindu push ups

25 atlas sit ups

25 push ups ( perfect push up)

Does anyone else adapt GUTS this way ? I will do another workout when I get home but I know that if this gets squeezed out that at least I have put in one workout.

How long do you take? I have my copy of GUTS waiting for me in Texas, I'm going at the end of next week, and I cannnnnnnot wait!

I find that this version is done in 10-12 minutes which is a good start to the day and it is a real energy booster.Something about the choice of exercise I think that lend themselves to an endorphin release!

I like your mini-GUTS routine GB.

I've been performing a modified version myself, due to time constraints.

Mine has been:

40 Liederman push ups
10 Full Range Atlas sit ups
20 Squats
20 MILO each side

And, I’ve been throwing in some outward crescent kicks JUST before the MILO.

When there isn’t much time, this gets the blood pumping nicely.

Hey Friends,

These are great foundational rourines that you have created that are all gain and no pain. This is the kind of training that one can sustain and build upon for life . I think that it is absolutely great.

Hey Guys,

I think doing this type of training is huge and the benefits are great.

Since I do some running and cycling I don't do too much leg stuff so I will do;

50 Atlas III

50-100 Atlas situps

5x20 pull/chins

30-50 At. situps

50 AIIIs

Takes me about 20 min or so

Sometimes it is how intense you do these type of workouts.

Good stuff!!
The GUTS program hits all areas of the body but it can be modified as we continue to be our own trainers.

Oh yeah almost forgot, the MILO is something that I see done at the end of the GUTS workout is so beneficial, I have noticed my arms are a little more cut due to this exercise.

I bet if a person did multiple reps a day they would see great results from just this one exercise.

Hey Monty,

My dear friend you made me laugh. Your twenty minute workout that includes 5 X 20 Pull-Ups/Chins would take most men 2 hours to accomplish because they'd be doing 20 X 5 and not 5 X 20 (that is not a slam against anyone it's just the truth). That my friend is a testament to just how great a shape that YOU are in. And what you have said about the Milo is something I want to re-emphasize.

This one exercise that I have named "The Milo" is the single most complete upper body DSR exercise in existence. I have never seen a SINGLE exercise that develops so many muscle groups simultaneously. If for whatever reason a man has no time for anything else this is one exercise that does it all in terms of sheer strength and development.

I do my mini guts on alternate days and 5 x 20 hindu push ups on the other (in the morning)

Now John,the Milo....

I must admit that I find this very hard. After 12 reps each side I am done!
I am thinking that I will add 2 reps every months. It is a value for money exercise but takes it out of me!
Has anyone else been suprised by the intensity of The Milo ( I had never heard of it before GUTS)?

Finally why is it that I had to wait until I am in my mid 40s before I discovered all of this...the arrogance of youth maybe when I was younger?

Hi GKC,
do you then perform the full GUTS workout when you have time in the evening? Or do you do something else such as isometrics or DVRs in the evening?
Regards,
Tony

My experience has taught me that the reasons not to workout build up as a day progresses. General tiredness, working late,a match on TV ;all of these can erode our desire to keep fit. Also if you add in 3 children ( in my case) then your time to stay in shape can be limited. With this in mind I do the Mini Guts alternated with 5x20 hundu push ups each morning. It took time to discipline myself to do this but it is now something I look forward to.

In the evening I will alternate the following ; 100 pull ups and running. So Monday after work will be the pull ups( sets of 8-10 ),Tuesday hill sprints;Wednesday pull ups and so on.

At 45 the key for me is simplicity and a workout in 20 minutes or less.
It sounds like I do lots but in reality it is a maximum of 30 minutes a day.

Sometimes I will do the full GUTS in the evening to test myself ( when I have put my children to bed and my wife is watching Americas next top model....or some awful reality TV show designed to drive husbands out of the front room!)

GKC,

Yes the Milo makes my arms shake and when I am done with the second set of 15, my arms are toast but with a good pump. I can also relate to having 3 kids, they can wear me out quick, especially after a long day of teaching and coaching.

I have been doing a stripped down version of GUTS for some time with my crazy on shift weeks . I have a max time limit o 15 min and cut every thing in half . During my week off I do the full blown routine . If time permits between calls I do the Dvr routine in PYTP makes me feel good during the day
