I have been giving The Milo my all when I do it,literally 100%!
Maybe I misunderstood because it seems that I may exhaust my CNS if I do that.
So my question is ;To complete The Milo as pescribed in GUTS is it best to perform the 20 and 15 reps at moderate intensity ?
Thanks.

Hey GKC,

It all depends on how much you have left when you do the exercise. I never use more than about 50% of maximum intensity when I get to the Milo because I use the exercise to infuse my muscles with highly oxygenated blood. I save my intensity for the Isometric Power Belt where I am totally focused during an Aerobic Isometric Contraction..

I second what John has said, coming from a HIT background each time I came to do the Milo I was doing it at 100% but like yourself I was finding I was overtaxing my CNS and causing pain in my elbow. The best way I have found is to start off using a little tension go through the full range of movemnet and get feel for the movment before stepping it up a gear.
Thanks

Pain in the elbow...yes I had the same but I think it was my way of doing it rather than the exercise itself.
However in the book GUTS the picture of John doing The Milo looks like he is lifting his arms and elbows high and really going for it!

Hey Dave and GKC,

You know, the Milo is the last exercise in G.U.T.S. and I use it to finish off. The repetitions are high with 20/20 and 15/15. I personally use it as a final exercise to get a great pump. If I used it alone I would use higher tension.

I've wondered why the repetitions for the Milo in GUTS are higher than what you recommend in Pushing Yourself to Power. It makes sense that you might use less tension and higher reps after completing the circuits of other exercises.

Yes Stingray, There is always a reason. It just depends on what you are out to accomplish.
