View Full Version : Power T Sweet Spot

I got a real love/hate relationship with the Power Ts! :rotfl: But I get the feeling I'm not the only one.
There seems to be a sweet spot for doing them, for me at least. I can't start my workout with them and I can't end with them. If I start with them, I'm too shaky so I need to do some other push-ups as a warm-up first. But if I do too many, along with pull-ups, my grip and stabilizers are too shot and I can't hold my balance.
Then there's that sweet spot where I've warmed up just enough but haven't taxed my muscles where I'm able to work with them for a little while until I throw them against a wall in frustration!
Just kidding, I usually just through them on the floor! :messed: Then go crawling back to try again a few minutes later. :)

I find personally I have to be really focused when using as well as warmed up,when I started doing full pushups with them I started from the bottom position and pushed up from there and just held the up position for time.I also threw them down but their addictive in a good way-Kevin
Joe,
This is a great point. As we all know the Ts should be considered an advanced exercise. I always “warm up” before using the Ts. When I was using them at work during my lunch break with a few others we would do maybe 2 sets (10) of Hindu our regular pushups and a few high reaches and some shoulder circles before hitting the Ts. I still do some type of warm up before using the Ts. When coaching others I always recommend warming up first.
I can relate to the love hate relationship as can many others. I’m glad that you have taken the Ts on as a personal challenge and enjoy reading about your (and others) progress. “Different strokes for different strokes” so the more people using them and reporting their personal experiences the better for all of us. For me the Ts have actually helped a shoulder / scapular injury, for others using the Ts might not be the answer. Objective and continued input about the crossover benefits form the people that are using the Ts is a help to all of us, thanks.

Hey Joe,
The Tee's can really be frustrating at times. One day you'll rip off twenty and the next you fall on your face after ten! But, I'm sold on them, and I'm good at turning my wrist and body before I break my nose!
Gary,
I was kind of leery of dropping the Perfect Pushups, because the rotation of the handles helped a long term rotator cuff problem. However, the Tee's alone, because of the Isometric contraction, do the same thing and the muscles around my shoulder blades have never been healthier.
Greg,
Glad to hear the Ts have had a similar effect and helped your shoulder also. I believe that BlackBelt’s PT said that in his opinion the Ts would be beneficial for his shoulder injury. So there’s lots of antidotal evidence that they are a helpful although somewhat severe rehab tool. I’d love to get a pair in the hand of a PT that would conduct a long term scientific study. For now I’ll just keep on collecting input from forum users.
Joe – keep pushing and that sweet spot will get bigger and bigger but don’t over train.
All – have a great Thanksgiving. Hope that you get to spend time with family, friends, and loved ones.

Excellent information, guys.
Someday I'll be advanced enough to use the Ts and your suggestions. It's great to know about others who are making such progress!
