Bob Hoffman is recognized as "The Father Of World Weightlifting," a "Legendary US Olympic Weightlifting
Coach" and was the "Founder Of The York Barbell Company". His father was a student of Alois P. Swoboda and the first exercises that he taught to his son Bob were out of Swoboda's "Conscious Evolution" course. These are the same exercises that John has included as part of his Transformetrics training system. John Peterson is the leading authority on Swoboda and his exercise methods and has met with various descendants of Swoboda. Bob Hoffman said that his father had the best build that he had ever seen and remember that his father was a Swoboda student and you are hearing that from one of the legends of weightlifting. Read Bob Hoffman's full endorsement on the link below -Chapter 30 page 202.

Hoffman wasn't endorsing John he was endorsing the training methods of Alois P. Swoboda which gave Hoffman's father the best build that he had ever seen. Ofcourse Transformetrics includes those complimented training principles that Hoffman was endorsing.

The largest number of exercises in Swoboda's "Conscious Evolution" course were DVR type exercises which are the basis of the DVR routine starting on page 86 of "Pushing Yourself to Power" and included in other sections throughout the book. They are "Moving Meditation" type exercises as the current head of the Shaolin Temple refers to them. They were brought to China 1,500 years ago by Bodhidharma and used to convert the Shaolin Monks from weak passive meditators to the legendary warriors that they became. Bodhidharma, a Yoga Monk, brought these exercises to China from India where they were known as " "Dhandal and Bhasky" exercises. and had been practiced for 5,000. John Peterson and Wendie Pett refer to this history in the book that they co -authored "The Miracle Seven." In China these exercises became known as the "Kung Fu Tensing Exercises" and were the basis of martial art's legend John McSweeney's "Tiger Moves". For thousands of years yogis had used these same exercise and meditation principles to perform almost unbelievable feats of bodily and autonomic nervous system control. They included consciously stopping and restarting their heart beats, regulating their body temperatures and blood pressure and even moving physical objects with only the projection of their brain waves. These abilities were proven under strict scientific controls and supervision at the Menninger Clinic and Foundation by Dr.Elmer Green and Alyce Green and fully documented in their book "Beyond Biofeedback".

Swoboda took the same combination of exercise and meditation principles and modified them to help those of us in western society to develop our physical and intuitive abilities to adapt and evolve to an ever changing universe and culture. In addition to the DVR exercises Swoboda also included some pushups and deep knee bends and was the first person that I have found to recommend the "abdominal crunch" which is an exercise that he probably invented.

Hey Andy62,

Thank You. What amazes me the most is that Bob Hoffman stated that his father had the finest physique he had ever seen as a result of doing what Charles Atlas called Dynamic Tension that Mr Atlas in turn learned from Alois P Swoboda.

And Task Master, I don't really have bad feelings toward Bob Hoffman at all. I just didn't like the fact that Hoffman was always taking shots at Charles Atlas whenever he could due to his jealousy of him. Other than that, one needs to credit Hoffman with the fact that he put Olympic Weight Lifting on the map in America.

I like DVR exercises, and the M7 or the DVR exercies or page 86 of PYTP are a gym in your own head that you can take anywhere. Like Gordon Isometrics just make sense to me, but then I'm in a minority and count DVR and thier cousins VRT as moving Isometrics and merely a modernized version of Ta Mo's I Chin Ching. In addition I'd count Isometric Poweflexing and the Commander Set of Isometrics in that equation as well as Powerflex by Big Jim and the advanced Atlas System in PYTP is right there.

These systems offer you the best possible bang for the buck. If Swoboda were alive he'd be proud of all the people using his idea's for fitness and mental health.

Thanks, Mike! You always have interesting posts.

BTW, you mentioned in another post about a friend of yours whose hair color changed back from taking PABA. Do you happen to know what brand he took and how much?

Dr. Success I think he used the least expensive brand available and on sale. Now his hair did get darker and stayed darker and looked natural. Heard other people say that taking Paba darkens thier hair but never saw that tested. Wish I could remember the book he got that insight out of taking Paba; my best is that advice will be in several sources. I'm going to google it right now.
