I think I have found out what has been causing the pain in the crook of my arm. I use a hang board and don't really have much of a grip when I do my chin ups. I want to make my own chin up bar instead. What diameter of pipe should I get?
Any advice would be very helpful and appreciated.

Hi Aaron,
I made a pull up bar with 1-1/4" black pipe. I think bigger the diameter of the pipe, the bigger grip challange you are going to have & so more forearm muscles are going to engage.
Hope this helps.

Hello Aaron,
I don't have much experience in that field, but i did some research for you and i found several options depending on where you want to put Pull-up Bar:

Johnny great research, thank you.
Aaron ever thought using DVR/VRT chinups? They work and then all you need is a tree branch in the backyard; sort of the lazyman's chinup bar and free. Depending on the strength of the door and frame many people might be better off using a cellar beam for placement.

You're welcome Mike.
Can you please explain how the DVR/VRT is performed?

Here is an example of the DVR chin up. The demonstration is using one arm,but you can use one or two arms. You don't need a bar and they work great.

Gordon: John doing the one armed M7 one armed chinup is a good little video. Johnny click on that video link Gordon posted, then click on the one arm chipup picture to see the video.
Johnny DVR/VRT is using muscle tension, pretend you are doing a chinup, with both arms. Flex the muscles and pretend it is real. It works as well as a real chipup. You can increase the amount of chipups you do using the DVR/VRT method, your muscles get as strong doing the pretend chipup as the real thing.

The big advantage of Transformetrics is that you do not need any equipment at all. But sometimes a little equipment lends some interest to your workouts. Down at your local athletic equipment store you can purchase a piece of equipment called a Power Tower. It stands about 6 1/2 feet tall when assembled. The upper part has two arms running horizontal to perform chins/pullups. Midway there are two arms projecting toward you that are used for paralell bar dips. If you back into the tower you can rest your forearms on the arms and do leg raises. On the foot of the tower there is a raised section where you can perform Atlas I pushups. The tower sell for $100 - $150 depending on the make. Hope I described it so you can understand this.

Thanks Mike, I've done that exercise before....just didn't realize it was the same one!

First of all, thank you all for your sound advice. I especially thank Johnny for all the research that he did. Thank you Henry too for the photo and Andy for the link.
Yes John, I would love to have the plans for your station. I could probably get it built dirt cheap down here.
I want to apologize for not responding sooner. I have had a very busy weekend. You are all great friends!
Thank you,
Your friend,
Aaron
