Hi all,

A couple of days ago I did quite an intense pushups/pullups etc workout and woke up quite sore yesterday.

I had planned on doing an isometrics workout with my power belt but since I was sore I was unsure if it was a good idea or not - so I didn't do it.

It got me thinking - Is it okay doing an ISO workout when sore from a previous workout??

Any thoughts/ideas anyone??

I look forward to hearing them.

Hi Kenpopaul

What are your goals? Why do you workout?
Are you sore all over? If you're trying to build muscles, remember that muscles are built while regenerating.
Otherwise working the muscles which aren't sore should be ok. Or you could just work the sore muscles with light tension. (Might even increase blood flow and speed up recovery?...)
Lets see what others have to say.

I'm a strong advocate for getting sufficient rest, myself. You can work out daily if you don't get overly sore and/or if you vary intensity. Otherwise, if you are pushing yourself to soreness regularly, I would recommend rest days.

Some people are hardier than I am and seem to do OK with pushing through soreness, but I find I resent my workouts and lose motivation quickly if I do this.

When I'm sore from a certain routine, I won't do that same routine again but I do work out using other exercises or protocols.

I find that the toughest part about working out when you're sore is starting, once you start it's never as bad as you think and I am a strong believer that it does actually help the soreness go away (fresh blood flow, etc.)
