i do not care
to live by
the rules anymore.
driven to this,
driven to that,
eventually leads
to neurosis.
i want to be
the still
pond,
reflecting
all that is.
i want to be
the vast
blue sky,
and it's draw,
upwards.
i want to
wear the ocean
inside my
body,
vast continents;
organs,
bone,
tendons.
i want to be
the deer
by the stream,
only conscious
of her need
to drink.
i want to be
the cool
mountain
streams,
eventually
wending
their way
to the ocean.
i want to be
a smile
that holds
all,
through
this broken
and cracked heart.
i want to be
your lover,
your embrace
in the folds
of flesh,
mineral,
water,
air,
fire.
there are
to many rules
to our brokenness.
i do not care to
live by them

what is the cost of your endless striving? when is enough, simply enough? so many rush right through this grand adventure, tense, afraid, alone.ahhhh, the blue sky,the blue sky.
silence, love and reflection are greater than any rule, culture tells you.
there is a reason why the mystics always retract to the wilderness.
to much clutter,
to many rules,
to much
to much
distracts from our inner simplicity....
peace be with you,

What rules? who's rules? Rules are for a more predictable and less dynamic time. We are living in a period of great change and that can be frightening, but it can also be exhilarating. We are all very complex creatures formed by genetics, environment, conditioning, rules, and authority, No two human beings have ever been exactly alike and never will be. The secret to finding our destiny lies within each of us and finding that individual destiny is the only real secret to true happiness and fulfillment. It won't be easy- it never is. Everybody that you know whether friend or foe has their own idea of who you are and what they want you to be. In the process you will experience all types of disapproval and rejection. The journey involves possible failure along the way. In the end you and only your can live this adventure that was created especially for you. It was put inside of you by the creator of the universe, but he also put in you the ability to fulfill it. Take the risk- just do it!

Jason, A great quote that I heard in a seminar that I attended in the 1970s and have always remembered:
" If you don't do your own thing- if you aren't authentic;then your life counts for nothing."

I agree Gordon!
To be authentic by definition means that your entire being,'is',as it is.
No excuses,no guilt,no shame-just being.
To be authentic is crucial!

Hey Jason,
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for this wonderful thread.
For any noble cause, any venture for the betterment of community and self, any desire for growth in wisdom and the knowledge of God, the word "impossible" cannot find place in our vocabulary. There is always higher, always better, always blessing.
I don't have much to add because I think it was already said so beautifully by Jason and Gordon.

there is
no theology
that can
express
you and i in this
pregnant moment.
there are
no rules
my soul
will,or cares to understand.
when the
mirror
reflects
inward,
outward,
there is no place
for;
you,
me,
them,
ours
theirs,
just simply,
this
pregnant
moment....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
the mind understands rules.the soul understands direct,'Naked Experience'as Father Richard Rohr says(what i call the pregnant moment).what is this pregnant moment?
it is the possibility of this moment-right now-of being, truly BEING.
when you grasp this all is possibility, all is pregnant with possibility.
peace be with you,
jason

be
a blade
of grass.
it does
not
concern
itself
with concrete
or asphalt.
it grows
reaching
for the sun.
splitting
with
its
tiny being,
what we
presume
to be
our might
our
superiority....
-------------------------------------------------------------------
a mustard seed grows to such a giant bush.a blade of grass grows through concrete.our spirit always,'is'.
let this,'is-ness'be your life....

'i have harnessed fire,
i have built structures
that will last
for thousands of years,
even my refuse
will live on
in some cases
for millions of years'.
the man sat back,
satisfied rubbing
his protruding belly.
'little brother,little brother'
started the bird,
'i have seeded entire continents
before you came to be.you talk of this and that lasting,
you talk of leaving imprints.
what have you done for the very skin you walk?
in what way have you lived that would determine
survival for all,including yourself?'
the man became uncomfortable.
he sat up in his chair and snorted.
the bird kindly
smiled and sang.
their conversation
went on through the day.
at night
the bird settled,
the man stewed
with indignity.
the stars?
well,you he stared
at them
and they did what they do,
burned the night through....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
we can sing and dance with mystery or we can scream into the night.
who has mastery?
a bird does what it does
a human being? well so much remains to master....

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think, we become.

the passing
monk,
saw the old donkey.
she lay
hobbled,
blind.
he stopped,
running his callused
hands through her
rough coat.
he told her
of her fine
and strong
back,
her long
sensitive ears.
he mentioned
how the farmers
appreciated
her keeping
the predators
away with her braying
and tenacity.
he reminded
her,
of who sat
upon
her proud
species once
long ago.
her last
moments
were spent
with him.
as she closed
her eyes
the final time,
he prayed,
and then
Francis
walked
to
the next being
further
up the road
to be
praised....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Francis did not follow rules.though devout in Christian practice, his way of seeing was so extraordinary.he wanted to make sure all in existence understood their principle and underlying beauty.to talk with animals,to give sermons to them-unheard of in the time period, and even now.
breaking rules, many times is equated with doing bad.that is just culture trying to conform you.breaking rules can be liberating like Christ sitting with tax collectors, theives, the poor,etc....
let us break a rule today,
when we see that lonely person in the lunch room that no one ever talks with, sit with him/her.
the rule of work pecking order might ask you to refrain, break this rule.
your soul does not care to desciminate,to harass,to watch inequity.
your soul longs to show the old donkey by the road
how much God loves her-you.....
Gone for a couple days.
peace be with you,
jason

the petal
falls
from the rose,
pollen soars
and swirls
from the pine.
each listens
to the hand
that sweeps,
each is,
it's
BEING.
do not tell
me,
this is not enough.
do not tell
me to make order,
rules from
this.
better
to simply watch
with attention,
with
'BE-ING'....
------------------------------------------------------------------------
i knew a person once who said,'i wish those leaves would fall where i won't them to fall,it is to messy!'
messy,order,
ugly,beauty
things we over work our minds with,
so much to learn by just watching and enjoying with our full presence....

many sleep
while walking.
many stumble
while talking.
many express
by balking.
many live
by hawking.
to walk,
to talk,
to
cry
to
live,truly live,
such a gift,such a gift....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
do we truly live? or do we sleep through life ?
to smell the flowers,
workout hard,
love your neighbor and God.
such simple yet profound things....

here is a rule
that i freely break.
my friends
that are male
i unabashedly
hug you public.
i
say
i love you!
no gay,
no
heterosexual,confusion
about who i am.
just two friends
that love one another,
that really,'see'
one another
for who we are....
------------------------------------------------------------------------
a students asked me why i hug everyone including males(he had observed me in the hallway hugging my best friend.i told him that a lot we are taught in culture is just wrong.to hug a male does not mean,'this or that',it just means i am happy to see my friend, and have no hang-ups.

a branch in the winter,
'snap',
dying roses
carried to
the compost,
step
by mindful
step.
apple blossoms
will turn
to apples,
the green grass
will brown.
my face
smiles,
with different
trails
these days,
each path,
each line
a story,
do you have
a minute?,,,,
-------------------------------------------------------------
you are beautiful, you are complete! old/young?the spirit smiles with each face....

no need to
beat my chest
and rage
in mock superiority.
better to let
my silver mane
wave in the wind.
no need to posture
or put on airs,
better to smile and
enjoy.
no need
to be who i am not.
fanciful rules
are for fanciful people,i suppose.
just let me be
the fool,
in love with all in the cosmos....

letting go my freinds-such sweetness!

sweat drips
clouds form,
just where
does my movement
stop
and the mountains
begin?....
------------------------------------------------------------------
i spent a day recently fasting and praying on a mountain top.in the distance was Mt.Katahdin which is the highest mountain in Maine.it always amazes me how much you can learn from mountains.
at Transformetrics we have the opportunity to take our gym(body) anywhere.i am always so inspired working out outdoors.sweat, muscle, tendon, bones, minerals, mounta ins, clouds, apple blossoms etc..,all part of my smile!

sing
your heart,
dance your body.
the universe
awaits
your song,
your dance.
sing
your heart,
dance your body....

please don't be afraid to sing,to dance. though a crazy dancer,i take solace in knowing it still occurs,it still occurs.
the song?well you know what i will say about that....

every nuance

examined.
i cannot climb

that leads
to the summit....

I own this!
There rule broken!
The one that says
males in this culture
can't be wrong....

accountability seems to lacking in so many ways in our world(for human beings anyway).the best thing we can do as mentors is to admit when we made a mistake.our raw ore and other metals became this fine steel by going into the fire many times.heat is not bad.how you withstand it-well,that is the crux isn't it?
