Dear John (and friends),

It has been awhile since my last post and things are going well for me. I am not quite up to par with some of the pros here but I am making progress. My last workout contained five sets of tiger bend pushups totaling 140 pushups with less than a minute rest. I also completed five sets of tiger bend squats totaling 164 squats. That gives me an average of 28 pushups and 33 squats per set with 60 seconds rest. I am feeling pretty good about my progress. I am so excited for Tough as Nails. I keep hearing that it will be the definitive bible on transformetrics. When does it come out? I hope it comes out soon. I have one question. I only have PYTP, Powerflex, and unfortunately money has been VERY tight. I havent been able to purchase any of the newer books to come out and I was wondering what the Atlas II and III pushups were. I keep hearing about how wonderful they are and I would love to get a crash course in them if someone would be kind enough to tell me. I hope things are going well for everyone and hope to hear from you soon. Many thanks.

Dan PYTP or Powerlfex are all the books you need for a lifetime! In PYTP look on page 163 and you'll see an A2 pushup. page 181 shows the Leiderman foot position, that is the same as an A3 foot position, and use the boxes from the A2. A2 are feet as high as your hands and A3 feet higher than your hands. Powerflex page 21 shows an A3 variation.

I think that PYTP and Powerflex are classics! PTYP might be the ultimate Atlas Course and Powerflex is a powerfull variation.

You're doing great, Dan!

Atlas III is on page 181 of PYTP, labeled "Atlas Push-up (variation)."

Yep Duff is right, my explanation wasn't as good for that page! I thought that was close to a A2

Thanks you guys! I feel a little sheepish that they were right in front of me though... (laughs)

Dan,

What you are doing is excellent progress and is about where I was at after the first year or so of Transformetrics. More will come with time.

I have said this many, many times. This is about long term commitment not short term sprints. To succeed you have to be like the steady, plodding tortoise and not the jump start hare.

Recently I read on another forum a young man commiserating about the P90X program. He'd made good progress while he had time to do the program and buy the supplements, but when life changes forced him to prioritize other things, he gained back all the weight he'd lost and then some.

Transformetrics is not about short term fixes. This is about life time fitness and health. The quick gains never last; only the persistant effort over time. It always pays to take a look at Joe Justice's initial picture and then scroll down to where he is now. This did not happen over night.

Good luck with your continued endeavors.

The names for some exercises have evolved over time since the publication of PYTP, so no worries!

And well put, Greg. Patience and persistence are the keys to success.
