Over the years this site has seen many visitors. People come and go, but those who stick around for a while see personalities emerge. Some become leaders, others detractors. Still others sit in the wings; learning, enjoying and hopefully giving back in some way. Ultimately, when the journey begins we are all aiming, striving and aspiring to be something more; to be better than when we entered. How that plays out for some may be completely different then others, but the theme is the same.

I am one of those visitors. Someone who has been around a long long time. I come and go from the forums but can't help but find my way back. You might think this is because of set-backs and at some points that would be accurate. Today though I come to you with success. I have continued to lose weight and at 5'5" am down to 143lbs. A weight that is 7lbs lighter then what I had thought possible for at least a decade. Something which I achieved through GUTS and the fine people of this forum. For those that don't know, I've lost some 44-45lbs overall.

After time off though, here I am again. A man no longer in need of counting calories to maintain and lose weight, because he has a firm grasp of proper portions. A man who knows nutritionally what's going into him (good OR bad.) Still though I am back, and there is certainly a reason.

I come to you with tidings of joy. I am to be married on June 20th. With it I will embark on a wonderful journey with my fiance, my companion. As part of that journey John has posted somewhat of a challenge for me. The challenge, take the power belt (one of the few products from Transformetrics I don't have) and use it. Not just use it, but test it. Move with it. Work with it.

As it turns out, as I was typing this up, I got some mail. That's right the Power Belt! Tomorrow I will take some pictures in the morning, and then work with the belt to get myself as far as I can in the 16 days leading up to the wedding. This doesn't mean I will quit once the wedding gets here, I'm just curious to see what I can achieve in such a short time with the device.

The question now becomes how to best use it. Time is not on my side, and so experimenting will have to come afterward. I'm happy and eager to hear suggestions from the Forum though and look forward to this little "test" of mine.

Steve - that is quite poignant and beautifully put. I also congratulate you on you planned marriage. I am a big believer in marriage. You can't be complete without the right companion. Yet, marriage takes a LOT of give and take work. It takes 110% dedication and then some. It is a life time endeavor. I guess the best suggestion I can give anyone comes from the movie FireProof.

When you court and marry your spouse you have received a bachelor's degree in the study of that person. As you go through the weeks, the months, and years, you need to work towards a masters and eventually a PHD in the study of that person you've committed your life and future to.

As to suggestions on the Powerbelt, I will send you a PM on some short term things you can try and if you find them successful, write about it here.

Steve,

Great post, congratulations on the weight loss and level of fitness you have achieved. Postings like yours help and encourage others. Congratulations also and best wishes on your upcoming marriage.

I’m sure you will enjoy the Power Belt and am looking forward to your feedback and input. Now that you have it in your hands follow the accompanying instructions then once you have the basics down EXPERIMENT and post your findings for the rest of us.

As promised some pictures. None of which are when i was at my fattest. They come close, but miss the mark by a couple months, at which point I was doing 500 pushups every other day and on off days up to 100. So I'd wager I'd lost about 5-7lbs of fat. Still though, the difference is striking (to me.)

If I've done everything right there should be 5 pictures of me. The first being the fattest of me I could find and should be about 1 month from when I was my heaviest. The next 2 are from that same trip, just a couple months later. I must say, that even at 40+lbs heavier I think I carried the weight pretty well. The final 2 are where I'm currently at, which I took early this morning, when I weighed in at 144.2lbs. They are also with me flexing. So, now that all that's out of the way, I suppose it's time to get to work!

As a final note, over the last week I have begun doing pushups again. I had built up to 80 in under an hour yesterday.

Steve! Great to read this news! You're looking great.

The the belt, I use mine in the morning after my first G.U.T.S. style workout for about 20 minutes. You can do a lot with the belt in 20 minutes.

You're right Joe, you can get quite a workout with that thing. I will post formal workout in the workout section. However, I wanted to update on just some general impressions.

The belt is a VERY bizarre device for me. Being a Calisthen-a-holic, I'm not used to this whole tug and pull thing aside from what happens with the T's. It's very gratifying in a way. Makes me think back to the kind of burn I can get from a few solid rounds of climbing if I push myself. It's also very long. Makes it feel a bit cumbersome at first because there's so much webbing. After using it a bit though, I'm pleased to say it feels much more natural.

The other thing is it's a lot of fun to use. Greg was kind enough to give me something to work on for the next bit of time up to the wedding. So I've been careful to try and follow that, minus a few things as I build up, but it's just fun to pick the belt up. I think it's because it makes me feel like a kid just messing around and not really working out. Now, how will that translate into actual improvements and such. Only time will tell, but others seem to swear by it, so I'm happy to find out first hand.

So, it's been what 5 months almost since my last photo post, and I'm here to post the long over-do update. These were taken after my climbing and modified GUTS workout, which can be seen over on my workout thread.
