For those who may be fans of the Peaceful Warrior book/movie....the author, Dan Millman, wrote a 'prequel' to the story about 5 years ago. I read it when it first came out..and on an extended business trip recently re-read it in its entirety during the trip...and I just have to say..what a wonderful book ! It really gives you an insight into the forming of the personality of the protagonist in Peaceful Warrior and lays the fictional/nonfictional basis for how he became the way that he was in the original story.

Just wanted to mention it because the training, changes and 'thought pattern' that Socrates/Sergei undergoes (although based on some fiction with mostly non-fiction thrown in , admittedly by Mr. Millman although it is based on a long interview with his grandmother) is phenomenal and the author brings you right into the process.

Hey Rez,

This is as good a place as any. I remember us discussing this, I think, a couple of years ago on this forum. From what you've said, both books sound interesting. I'll check the library this week.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg,
I never watch the movie version with Nick Nolte...but the Peaceful Warrior is a great book. I'm glad I read the Warrior first then found the Journey of Socrates and read that. I found in the Warrior that the Socrates character was a phenomenal character. I can't tell you too much..wouldn't want to give you any spoilers (even though you can look it up on the internet) but when he appears in the Warrior, it is for a reason. The 'Journey's' book really brings out a story to round out his character. Millman spent a lot of time in Russia doing research on the man and then came up with the novel with a lot of non-fiction thrown in
