Are push up bars effective for use in place of chairs or boxes for the Atlas push up?
Thanks,

Hey Rooty,
I see no reason that they can't be. Currently the only Push-Up handles that I personally use are what we call Warrior Power T's. Believe me, the Warrior Power T's are unbelievably tough. But in terms standard Push-Up handles, they certainly would allow for a greater stretch than just doing them on the floor.

Pushup bars may give an additional boost to the forearms since you can really squeeze the bar. It's also good on boxes, chairs or the floor by doing fingertip pushups, but this is more difficult and can limit your total workload. If your pushup bars have some padding, really tightening your grip puts added stress on the forearms, making the exercise harder (more result producing).

Three plastic stackable footstools also work pretty well without breaking the bank.
Rooty,
For doing Atlas pushups it’s hard to beat a pair of chairs and what John said about the Ts is certainly true. Look around the house, back yard, garage and I’m sure you can find lots of props to experiment with. I believe some time ago Joe posted a video clip using 2 tree stumps in his back yard. Try an open door way. Another great prop is a pair of cement blocks. They’ll allow you to have 2 different levels to use. Cement blocks can also be used for CH-12 Seated Pectoral Push Down – page 59 of PYTP

if you want to get pushup handles id spend the extra few dollars and get the perfect pushup. i know its not marketed here but you will get an extra stretch and they do make the pushp a little harder.

Hi guys, right now I am using pushup handles bought for me by my mam and dad many years ago, with my feet on a chair and it is working fantastic!
