When I first started Transformetrics back in 2005, one of my goals was to be able to do 100 reps in a series of exercises without stopping. The other day John was discussing with me the perpetual lesson in the Atlas program. I told him, "John, you know you could do that perpetual lesson 100 reps in the morning and 100 reps at night and get them done in 20-24 minutes. Kind of like the G.U.T.S. routine."

Today is a rest day, so I didn't want to do anything hard. So based on the Perpetual Lesson template, this is what I did:

50 strict military pushups
100 Atlas Situps
100 ninety degree leg raises
100 Tiger Bend Squats
100 Alternate Toe Touches (50 each side)
50 strict military pushups

18 minutes

Then I went outside and did close grip chins 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, I haven't done chins in a while - I have been doing close grip pullups since the spring - and I wanted to go easy at first. I have gotten hurt quite a few times trying to force chins and pullups so I go easy with a lot of control and don't force them or kip them. This was supposed to be an easy workout anyway.

14 minutes

The point of this is twofold. I couldn't have done this workout in 2005. It would have killed me. It took time to work up to this. Too, others of you can easily best me in this workout. I've done much harder workouts. However, the other point is, it doesn't have to take long to get a productive workout in. This one took 32 minutes. How easy is it to pull 15, 20, or 30 minutes out of the day?

Greg I like the Atlas Perpetual Lesson and think that is a good first stage for men to workup to for preperation for GUTS. To many people try to jump immediatly into GUTS at the Elite level and do not take the time to build a foundation. I think you are wise, it takes time and practice. Now if they build up using GUTS and workup to the Elite level that works. Not sure why guys try to start at the top.

You got it Greg. 15-30 minutes is really all it takes to get a great workout. I've been really enjoying my 20-30 minute Power Calisthentic workouts lately, having really hit a stride in the past few weeks.
