Do you guys think a product like this would work? I saw it advertised on the hundredpushup.com website.

I'm sure that the tension bands would increase resistance for at least part of the push up movement.
You could also add dvr tension without the bands.

Thanks for that review divebomber, I think once I can do 50 push ups in a set I will upgrade to the power T's.

Hey gs300tx,

I have to say it looks like a good product. But I don't think it will help you get up to fifty push-ups. The reason for this is that you are adding so much tension to you push-ups you will not get the endurance factor you need to do any exercise for high volume. In my opinion if you are going to try to do push-ups i high volume is to do just that. Try GTG or pyramids. I have found both of these methods VERY effective for increasing volume for push-ups and pull-ups (these are the only exercises I have tried doing GTG or pyramids with). Anyway I think you might want to try one of these and see what they do for your numbers. All the best.

Hey Nathan,
I actually tried a slight modification of the hollyweed, but instead here is what i did. I would do counter top push ups, and just 1 set of regular push ups a day. In 2 weeks, I went from 25 push ups to 45 push ups(my max). It was pretty amazing. I noticed that there was a difference of 10 push ups between the counter top and regular PU's. Meaning that if I could do 55 counter top PU's, i was able to do 45 regular PU's. I might have to start it again. But currently I am trying the hundred pushups.com program and see how that goes.
Take care
Ali

That is pretty neat Ali. So you are just 5 push-ups from your goal of fifty push-ups. I see you getting those Power T very soon my friend. All the best.

I am a big fan of Lifeline, own many of their products and still use some of them. In almost every case their products do what they say they'll do, HOWEVER, the power pushup was a total waste of money for me. Bottom line, for me, it was a JOINT KILLER (elbow) !

I say, why wait till you get to 50? I can say with a fair bit of certainty that I can't do 50 consecutive pushups ( though I've never actually tried to.) I think I max'd out at something like 35ish a couple months ago. It's true before I picked up the T's I was able to do 500 pushups every other day in sets of 25 every 4 min. so that may have something to do with my being able to do anything with the T's. before you write me off as being stronger though for starting them, I too had to start with static holds, and just today will be trying to do sets of 1 yes that's right sets of 1 full body t's and not the "cheater" knee ones I'd been doing. If you're interested I have my journey with the T's chronicled in the workout log section and haven't been on them all that long yet.

I'd also say go ahead and get the Ts as a christmas gift. Five more pushups won't change how well you do with them initially.

From my experience, the best preparation for power T pushups are T planks and T knee pushups. And if you can't do those (which is no shame), start out with knee planks. Don't worry about a humble start, but rather look forward to the vast improvements ahead!

Lately I've used the Ts GTG style, and I have to say that my wrist stability and grip strength have soared. They're as functional as it gets.

Hey Guys,

The Life Line Power Push-Up II resistance cables alter form in a big way (two of my employees used them briefly) even though one might not realize it. If I were to choose between the Power Push-Up II and the Warrior Power T's there isn't even a question. The Warrior Power T's are vastly superior in my opinion.

Hey Ali,

That's terrific. About how many reps/sets of counter top push-ups did you typically do each day?

The Power Pushup is good if you keep the following limitations in mind:

The smallest increment you can adjust by is 20 lbs.
The handles are s little too fat to lie flat.
It only really adds a lot of resistance to the lockout half of the pushup...which is great if that's where your weakness lies.

Flat resistance bands are probably superior as its easy to adjust the length/tension.

The Lifeline product or a homemade equivalent has uses beyond pushups - eg perform pushing moves while standing or lying on your back - use it for pulls - mimic an archer
