Take a BodyBow; it has two straps you pull for the exercises and two sets of bows in a pack, both a top and bottom set of bows. Get two pieces of nylon rope, tie ends to two steel rings, run each rope through a piece of hose (a handle) and carbiner rings to attach to the bows; and you have a Poorman's Bowflex.

I recently saw the BodyBow on Amazon for $16 (new) plus shipping.

You can get a Bowflex Manual (or another manual) or invent your own exercises.

Hi Mike,

Nice innovation! It is so true that most of the gadgets sold(bowflex,etc...)one can just do without such a cost in an innovative way.

Lately I have been putting VRT in the mix-another great innovation Greg!-and no cost!

Take this one step further, just attach one of the rope handles to a doorframe (make sure it is a wooden door), wall or bench and you pretty much have a boxflex. I think you don't think you even have to do that, just sit on the floor, one handle over your feet, sit on a chair, or stand; whatever works.

You can even take the exercises from something like "The Isorobic Exercise System" Manual and it has 114 pages.

Bulk tubing ca be configured in ways that mimic expensive exercise equipment; get some & play some creative "games"

Alternatively, get some rope; thick is best. With the rope you can apply added leverage when pitting one muscle against another - eg target your biceps by resisting with your legs

gruntbrain great idea's you have always advocated intelligent use of materials.

I just check the BodyBow is called " Body Max Health Bow Total Body Exerciser " on Amazon and now selling for $20.93 and eligible for free Amazon shipping with a $25 order. Someone has the Body Bow on ebay for $17.99 but they are charging $10.00 shipping.

Bear: I love DVR/VRT, Greg and John have given the world a simple system, free system. I've been thinking about returning to weight lifting using VRT no weights, but I use a four foot long red oak staff as a bar and two wooden oak foor rollers as dumbbells. You can buy a Japanese Jo at a martial Arts place as a bar and the foot rollers dumbbells anywhere.
