Ugh! OK....THis is what has put me down now for about 1 week. I coach youth football and I know it was my own doing. It has gotten colder here and I didn't stretch out becasue I was late that night getting to practice....but in baseball and basketball and in football coaching, I make it a piont to run the sprints with the boys when they need to at the end of practice. 6 spirnts into it ...POP.....it felt like someone threw a baseball and hit me in the back of the leg. Next thing I know it, I'm face down on the field. I've kept it wrapped and went home that night and kept it elevated with ice. I read that R.I.C.E. is the best for this...rest, ice, compression and elevation. OK...fine been doing that. But what else is recommended or has anyone else had to deal with this? I am able to walk almost normal now. For the first couple of days, I could not get that foot in front of the other good leg's foot without immense pain. Now I can..so that's an improvement. Just lookng for suggestions to take it from here or feedback on how others have dealt with it.
OK...thanks for listening and thanks in advance for any replies.

Hey Isorez,

I googled pulled hamstring and found a decent website on the injury. Here is the site. I hope there is some stuff on here you can use. http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/back/hamstringstrain.htm (http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/back/hamstrings/hamstringstrain.htm)

I hope your injury has a quick recovery and all the best.

This thread reinforces my belief that all out sprinting aint for me. If I ever get back to 'em, I'd warmup by performing a series of full ROM joint mobility drills using varying DVR tension. I'd then proceed with some isometric stretches to complete the warmup.
