View Full Version : How Do You Start Your Day?

Just out of curiousity I was wondering how folks here start their day. Is there a set routine you do as soon as you get out of bed to jump start your day? For me it is 30 minutes of meditation where I slow down my breathing followed by about twenty minutes of yoga. Nothing fancy, just a headstand, shoulderstand, forward bend, cobra, spinal twisting, and some cat stretches thrown in. Then I take 40 or so deep breaths as described by John in his books or in the Altas course. I finish off by throwing a belt over the edge of a closet door and hang from it for one minute to stretch and elongate the spine. After a cold shower and breakfast of fruit and yogurt I am ready to take on the world.

There are times, however, that despite my best preparations the world still wins. :beat-up:

Can anyone else describe their morning routines and how they work for you?

I start almost every day with my pushups, in most cases it is 500 and every second day I include some pullups with the morning pushups

For the past month and a half, I begin my day with Atlas pushups (approx. 200) and a good, strong cup of coffee.

Thanks for the thread.

I don't have a first-thing-in-the-morning routine. I will benefit from one. I'm using ideas that you're posting.

I usually don't have a set routine for the morning since I will do something different quite often. I am currently practicing hand balancing. So in the morning I will do a 2 minute handstand against a wall, do some push-ups on the Power Ts, and then work on my handstands. And then eat breakfast. So at the moment this is what I do in the morning. All the best.

I have been practicing a new course I got from Matt Furey. Every morning this past week I get up stretch and move my ankles around, slap a few pressure points, then go outside and walk backwards for 30 min. Doing various slaps and direct hits to various pressure points, duck waddle a bit sometimes walk extremely slow. Most of the time I just walk at a normal pace backwards. It feels very good and it washes out my worries and negetive stress. In the afternoon, I would do some VRT/DVR work for 15-20min. then in the evening I stretch my back and legs by bridging, wall walking and ham stretches.

Couldn't resist that. Sometimes I do Tiger Moves, sometimes I do Iso powerflexing, but whatever I do, I make sure there is some deep breathing.

Get up and first thing that I do is say a quick prayer, wake up the kids and usually some Bible reading. After a cup of coffee and breakfast (oatmeal, cream of wheat or biscuits and gravy- we only get the biscuits and gravy once a week though), my workout comes later. By the way, I always give the wife a quck squeeze too!

Interesting and varied replies all! Just like the folks on this board! Thinman, that sounds like a whole day's work! How long does it take you to complete that entire routine? Bennyb, can I ask just what Furey course you are currently using?
