I posted this in Larry's forum; but this book should be owned by everyman. The Art of Shen Ku by Zeek.

It it is a large book; has a two page section for the Asian combat stick (aka baton) walking stick and staff. Now these two pages on each topic is distilled and concise but accurate knowledge into a very short workable format! Practice and sweat the two pages on the walking stick and you will be a dangerous man with a cane!

This book has sections on kung fu, self defense, monk exercises, breathing, Isometrics it is as differnt a book as a man could find. Sections on medicine, health, reverse aging, and just common sense. This guy did a great job!! it is $13.57 at Amazon plus shipping. Click on inside the book (on the left hand side of the page under the picture of the book cover) to access the table of contents, index and read an except and then there is a second except in the surprise me section.

The writer has a gift, read at amazon what this book is about, the table of contents, read the pages on the inside of the book section so you know what your getting if you buy this; it is amazing. He is obviously into the martial arts and a gifted writer, using almost a comic book type format to distill knowledge into workable bits. Read the reviews, it is rated five stars by the readers!

This book has been mentioned before on the old site but it merits metion again.

I've enjoyed cherry pickin' the book; some of the stuff is fetched pretty far but at least it is entertaining & has inspired some homemade gizmos

gruntbrain I like that book too, an Australian friend recommended it to me. The guy put a massive amount of work and study into it.

I read this book at my library. There's some good stuff in it, some "pie in the sky" stuff, but as its done with tongue firmly planted in cheek, I wonder how much of it is meant to be just for laughs.

Worth a read, though!

ben the martial arts stuff is pretty much right on target; and the survival stuff too. I think it was written tongue in cheek but used real information, a lot of research went into it.

I've had this book for a few years and like it.

It's comic book format so I can read it pretty easily.

Recommended for good and thought provoking ideas.

It's the kind of book that you can just open up to any page & get useful ( or at least, thought provoking) info.; one need not read it; browsing works.

The book's vast index is particularly nice; it provides a quick reference to pinpoint your chosen topics of interest

Perhaps Zeek can be labeled as a pragmatic hippie
