Hello all,
This is one of my favorite poems. I believe the author was a friend of my mother and grandfather
Remember also the unknown ones,
the nameless ones who did as they were bid.
Tunneled through mountains,
Tracked wild continents,
Sailed flimsy vessels, crossing unknown seas
tho' more than half-way certain they must be
teeming with monsters, hungry for their bones.
Who long before a Caesar raised his head
laid stone on stone and built a pyramid
Remember also the unsung ones,
who fashioned implements with sharpened stones
and told their tale on parchment or in clay,
Who traced bright beauty on the walls of caves--
And the one who shivered in the gathering dark
and rubbed two sticks together, and found a spark.

Regards,
Alan
