Hello brothers and sisters,
Here's a video commentary-interview that Rachel Maddow (http://airamerica.com/maddow#node-93274) (Air America) had about Obama and Reverend Rick Warren.
Did Obama make a mistake having Rick Warren give the the invocation at his inauguration?
What do you think?
Regards,
Alan

I think Obama was attempting to hit the middle ground. Obama is going to have to cooperate with the religious establishment to some extent to make his proposals work and I think that this was an attempt to do that. The reality is that Rick Warren or any other individual with a cause to promote is going to use every opportuity to promote it just like Obama did. I think it points out what I have believed all along and that is Obama's main problem is going to come from those who supported him. They have unrealistic expectations. He has surounded himself with advisors who have strong, dominant ,personalities although I can find nothing in his background where he was confrontive with or stood up to strong personalities. There is a part of him that seems naive. As David Gergen, the current Harvard Professsor and former advisor to multiple Presidents, said when Obama was considering selecting Hillary Clinton as his Vice Presidential running mate, "If Obama selects Hillary he had better get a food taster." I wish Obama luck, but he is going to have just as tough of time as Bush did because that is just the way the game is played.

I'm agnostic on the Warren selection; a President should be given a pass on such inconsequential(?) selections.
Is Maddow Gay? Just curious, I have always wondered.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see how this play's out. If I had to guess, if this doesn't go away, Obama will switch to someone else before the inauguration.

Hi everybody,
Interesting comments.
And yes, Free, I wonder if he will switch?
As far as Maddow's being gay, I did not know, so I looked her up on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rachel_Maddow), where they say she's the first openly-gay prime-time news anchor in US television.
I hadn't realized that, although I really don't watch her too much.
Happy new year.

Alan

I reviewed that video and all I could see was an obvious bias toward Fundamental Christianity. It just flowed out of her w/an awful lot of sarcasm. It was sad as I don't believe she sees it. What she can't comprehend is the alleged bias she's reporting on is the same issue she's personally dealing with, which is usually the case w/hypocrisy. No one likes to be a hypocrite and will thus formulate a philosophy of life that supports their lifestyle and attack anything that contradicts it. I wasn't aware she was dealing with homosexualtiy until I read the prior post here. Her stand now makes sense. Over the years I've learned that those most ardent in their hatred of Jesus Christ and His church (as imperfect as it is) usually have issues in their life in direct contrast to the message of His Lordship. They therefore seek to change/stone/belittle the message and the messenger which is repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ, a message over 2,000 years old. The truth Jesus brings cuts like a knife and gets right to the root of the problem and the individual affected either rejects or accepts it's message. There is no middle ground.
Obama may not have known what he was getting....or maybe he did. I hope he doesn't back track as nothing I heard Rick Warren say on this clip sounded hateful. Regardless though, I agree w/the prior comment that Obama is going to have a difficult time appeasing his supporters.

Maddow has mentioned being a lesbian on air; such declarations are largely irrelevant but I admit there is some relevance on the Warren issue.
