"In exercising we get acquainted with the power of consciousness. We even attain the ability to produce currents of energy at will and direct them to any point in our body by simple concentration of thought."

...And this is the conscious decision to flex a particular muscle, a conscious effort that only a human being can perform in the animal kingdom. And the 'moving flex" that takes place, coupled with a focused mental intention (the 'visualization'), is what this weight free exercise is all about. Good stuff, Gordon.

Hey Greg,
I have been having some pretty good results bodybuilding with VRT here lately. Using 3lb dumbbells to grip really help focus the exercise for things like lateral raises, various curls and tricep extensions. It has also opened up a lot of possibilities for other exercises such as chest flyes, presses, and rowing.

Concentration is the secret of success in any life activity and "inner concentration" takes it to a whole new level.

@Greg I can agree with the use of lite dumbbells with dvr/vrt exercises. I myself like to use a pair of 5 pound dumbbells with them. As I often do them only twice a week and this has allowed me to learn to over ride to sense of external resistance. Kind of making the weight weightless (feed-forward tension). I find that this also stimulates the nervous system really well. You need to do isometrics with this type of training as you can build an unusual level of muscle strength and really need to reinforce the tendons. I recommend never going higher than 5 pounds with it though. The most reps I've ever done this way is around 200 in sets of 25 with enough tension to zero the feed back loop. I know I'm a crazy.
