It is important in our modern world that that special lady in our life always be protected. I've written about this topic on the old forum. KISS Keep It Simple Stupid immediatly comes to mind. Due to the difference in size a female with a weapon that she can use benifits.
The ladies on this forum have been very gracious, offering advice on relationships for me with my gf, yeah she is younger. I want her safe no matter what happens. I learn towards teaching a lady to use a 20 guage pump shotgun with a short legal barrel, rifle sights or ghost ring; a 38 Special snub nosed revolver and a dagger. In the beginning a .22 snub nosed revolver makes a great training aide due to her size, it is easier to control for learning. There are common things that immediatly come to mind like the black cat keychain for self defense runs like $6 online, and there are other cat keychain versions and kubaton keychains, rat-tail comb, steel comb, hold a compact in her hand to strike with, or a lip stick, use a Sharpie Accent highlighter as a yawara stick.
John McSweeney's Total Self Defense DVD makes a nice present and teaches the use of his nine fighting Tiger strikes, SSS is also a great option. Kicks should be kept low if taught, old fashioned bare knuckle boxing using the palm heel, back fist strikes work great and don't injure the hands. Better yet is your lady using that Black Cat Keychain to punch with.
