As I begin my 4th year of weight-free training, I am re-evaluating my objectives.
This year I will be adding more cardio and chinning. I also think I could do with a bit more calf and ab work, although those tend to be secondary goals. Pushups will continue to be the core of my routine.
I do have an ab wheel and the standing Superman rollout is definitely a worthy goal I will also cut down on the coffee a bit!:coffee:
Anyone wish to share their goals?

To be at a level where I can do 400 push ups a day everyday. I can do that right now, but not everyday. I would also like to gain 10lbs of muscle.

2009 is going to be a year that presents many challenges on many fronts. I plan to keep the fact in mind that challenges also present opportunites. During the year I plan to practice the Transformetrics energy exercises DVR/VRT, Isometrics and Isometric Power Flexing while keeping my mind focused on the things that I want and off of the things that I don't want.

In 2008 I wanted to develop a consistent workout regimen, as much for mental strength a physical. I have been active all my life. Mid-year 2006 I started suffering some bad knee pain. Long story, but as my main avocation is horse riding, this became nearly debilitating. For 18 months my exercise routines were confined to finding relief for that pain. Finally, I accomplished that, but at the sacrifice of what was once a good workout routine. So, in 2008 I undertook the Pushup Challenge. I am happy to report that this morning I finished that challenge. So, reflecting on 2009 goals, I came up with the following.
2009 Goals
I've never been able to do more than 6 or 7 consecutive pull-ups. I'd like to be able to crank out 20.
I know of several advanced, very difficult pushup varieties that I could not attempt in 2008 because there is some risk of injury (while engaged in the Pushup Challenge). I would like to master them in '09.
I want to add a lot of variety to my workouts. (Reference the 20-minute Fitness Solution blog.)
I am determined to change my eating patterns in '09. No special "diet" or regimen. Has to be a mindset change. For as much as I work out, I have too much body fat. It is not a matter of working out more. I could sleep more, workout less and feel better if I was more disciplined in what I eat. It's up to me.
Every year I seek ways to be more active. It needs to be a lifestyle thing. Strength, flexibility, endurance and the ability to pursue all my hobbies in good health. That about sums it up.

My goal in 2009 is the same as it was in 2008, to do 100 consecutive Tiger Stretch Push Ups.
Happy New Year Everyone

Hopeful - how close did you get to this goal in 2008? What techniques or routines did you use? Just curious.

1. To be more giving with and supportive of the many fine folks who share this forum.
2. 100 strict Atlas pushups
3. 300 Tiger stretch pushups
4. To shave 2:45 minutes off my two mile run
5. To continue to lose from around the waist
6. To break two free hanging boards with a spinning heel kick
Goals 2-5 would have been unobtainable two years ago and highly unlikely a year ago. This year they are doable. I took over six minutes off my time in the 2 mile for 2008. I've got 2:45 to go to get it under 15 minutes. I also just recently did 200 Tiger Pushups. So, in a year's time I believe the 300 is obtainable. The 100 Atlas pushups just need to be practiced to be done.
The last one is cake icing. and is not as important as the others. I did that in 1988 at a Hapkido demonstration where everything seemed to go right and I had a Bob Beamon moment. I'd like to be able to repeat that twenty something years later.

I wanna write a book, Death, Taxes, & Squats; I'd have to perform at least 1000 squats daily to be credible.
