I have read a lot of information that may suggest that taking a cold shower in the morning might be beneficial to ones health. I have the Charles Atlas E book version of the manual and even he advocated the use of cold water in the morning. I know there was a thread here on this topic but I believe it was before the forum was re done. So, how many here actually take cold showers in the morning and how beneficial has it been for you?

Honestly i wish i had the guts to be more persistent with them. They definatly get you from 0-100 in no time. The problem for me is that i LOVE HOT SHOWERS.They seem to be more relaxing but cold is more invigorating. What ill do sometimes is take hot shower and then turn it to cold for about a minute then back to hot. When i use the bathroom at work after i wash my hands ill turn the faucet to cold and splash my face and that always gets me reved up.
I love going from the sauna right to the pool or a cold shower. When i cut weight for fights i always take a longer cold shower then usual and that always seems to help my recovery greatly. There definatly worth incorporating into your fitness routine.

Im with Black Knight. I love taking hot showers. I actually look forward to them. I do the samething as BK, i usually go cold for about a minute and then i go right back to hot. I have never heard of any health benefits of taking a cold shower tho.

So i partied a little to hard last night bringing in the new year.Since im not a big drinker(i probably drink about 12 times a year)im paying the price today:dazed:.So i decided to take my own advice and do the hot/cold cycle to see if that would help.I have to tell you im feeling at least 50% better. So i know this isnt a traditonal Transformetrics type tip but for those times when you did a little more(or possibly alot more)partying then you should have try the hot/cold treatment to get you back on track.

I've hit the bypass key on cold showere but I do underdress in cold weather for the perceived health of it. Exercising in cool weather with light, loose fiting clothes also happens to be enjoyable.
I prefer to do a cold dunk. I fill up my deep jacuzzi tub with water (throw in some ice in the Summer) and jump in for a minute or so after my hot shower.
Like you guy's, I like my hot shower, and this has fallen aside a bit lately, but I hope to get back to it soon.

I personally hate cold water and don't really ever take cold showers. But if I am really tired or sluggish I will splash cold water on my face and back of my neck. This always helps me wake up. Anyway All the best guys.

One thing that matt Furey recommended which I love is the following:-
Get into the shower at average temp, then slowly decrease the temp until it's really cold, atay in it for around a minute then slowly start increasing the temp until it's as hot as you can get it. Spend another minute in the shower then get out, get dried and do your hindu squats, hindu pushups and back bridge.
He recommended doing this each morning to fully energize you for your day ahead.
i once spend a whole summer doing this and it does feel great and really wake you up.

I have a bit of experience with cold showers. Here's how I do it. First of all, if I am sore, or have achey muscles or joints, I avoid the cold showers. In my mind, a hot shower is more soothing. When I'm not achey, and if it isn't super cold outside (which means the cold water will be very, very cold) I will alternate days of hot showers and alternating hot/cold showers.
Here's how I do the alternating hot/cold showers. When I first get in the shower, I make the water warm and wash my face. After I rinse it in warm water I'll make the water a little cold and make sure my whole body is hit by it. then I make it a little warmer than it was originally and wash my hair. When the hair is rinsed, I'll make it a little colder than last time and again make sure the whole body gets hit for at least 30 seconds. Then I make it as hot as I can stand it and wash my body, then I'll make it as cold as it will get and do the whole body thing for at least 30 seconds.
This way your are eased into the coldest possibble water and it isn't quite as shocking. I've said it before and I'll say it again - You NEVER feel as alive as you do when your body is being soaked by COLD water.
And it is a wonderful way to treat a hangover. Won't eliminate it, but as BK said. it'll make you feel about 50% better.
